In what has been called the Illegal Immigration Road Show, the House of Representatives is bringing more weight to bear on our elected officials by ‘outing’ their proposed amnesty bill across this nation.

Actually, I think this is a brilliant move by the House to hold hearings to expose the idiocy, AKA S-2611, and take the debate to the American people. Surely nothing good can come of this if you are one of the Senators that backed this ridiculous piece of legislation.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports:

A House hearing called “Should We Embrace the Senate’s Grant of Amnesty to Millions of Illegal Aliens and Repeat the Mistakes of the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986?” produced vivid warnings Tuesday about the Senate’s version of a comprehensive immigration bill.

Republicans on the House immigration subcommittee showed no hesitation in slamming the Bush administration and their Senate colleagues for departing from the House’s enforcement-only approach. Even Democrats complained that the hearings — part of a summer-long series — had the country “up in arms about the fact that there’s an amnesty bill out there,” said Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Los Angeles.

And rightly so, Ms. Waters.

The article goes on to quote another House Representative:

Rep. Howard Berman, D-North Hollywood (Los Angeles County), said Republicans were vying to “see how many times they can use the word amnesty in one sentence,” while doing nothing to work out their differences with the Senate.

Good. It’s about time. After hearing our elected officials proclaim repeatedly that this legislation garbage is NOT amnesty, it’s nice to see there are still people, in office, who will speak the truth to the American people.

Rallies For Anarchy Continue

Laws? What laws? We don’t need any stinking laws.

The Chicago Sun Times is reporting that we will see yet another march for anarchy in Chicago today:

Chicago area immigrant-rights activists were not dissuaded from going ahead with plans to march for a moratorium on federal raids, arrests and deportations today, despite forecasts of punishing heat and suggestions from city officials that the event be postponed.

This rally/march is being organized by a group called Centro Sin Fronteras (Center Without Borders) and they are actually calling for our federal government to stop upholding the immigration laws of our nation.

Hey, there are a lot of laws that I don’t really like. I’d love to drive faster than the speed limit, not pay taxes, and forget about all of those pesky ID requirements. So, perhaps we should protest the government to do away with all of the laws of this nation. NOT!

Immigrant Sweep Snags 58 at Fort Bragg

FORT BRAGG, N.C. (AP) — Federal agents conducting a sweep aimed at illegal immigrants detained 58 civilian workers Tuesday as they tried to enter Fort Bragg with suspected false or fraudulently obtained identification, officials said.

Almost all of them were construction workers, officials said.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents, U.S. marshals and FBI agents worked with the military on the sweep, which was conducted between 6 a.m. and 7:30 a.m. when most of the thousands of soldiers and civilian workers who live off the post enter the gates.

“Today’s operation was part of our ongoing force protection measures,” said post spokesman Tom McCollum. “There were no incidents or accidents.”

Some of the people detained were from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras, ICE spokesman Marc Raimondi said.

Four people were arrested for drug possession, McCollum said.

People trying to enter Fort Bragg with false IDs can be charged with criminal trespass and presenting false identification, McCollum said. The garrison commander also can prevent contractors who knowingly hire such people from working at the base.

In the past year, more than 150 people have been detained as they tried to enter Fort Bragg without proper ID, McCollum said. The base is home to the U.S. Army Special Operations Command and the 82nd Airborne Division.

Just another example why Border Security is a National Security Issue. Those who attempt to make this a racial issue, or an issue to advance their own political agenda  weaken our national security and put us all at risk. It is well past time to put the political gerrymandering behind us and secure the border…

Remember those Senators who voted for the Wall before they voted against it.
