America as a Target….Not a Home

Cross posted from StikNstein has no mercy

Well…..no matter how you spin it, the “Pro Amnesty immigration Rallies” on May Day were pretty weak. A bit more about weeping children than any attempt to address substantive issues.
Stik noticed a common thread running throughout all the interviews and sound bite quotes from illegal aliens this year……….

It’s subtle, but see if you can figure it out…………….

“I came here like everyone else to make sure we get a just immigration reform law passed,” said Abel Corona, 34, who described himself as an illegal immigrant from Mexico, as he marched downtown here. “We are not going anywhere. We are not criminals. We came here to work and even to help this country economically.”source\

“It’s not right to separate families, but that’s what has happened,” Ms. Martinez said, as her 6-year-old son held a sign reading, “I refuse to live in fear.”source

DARTBANNER4.jpg

“We want to work here legal,” said Santos Abraham, 40, a Guatemalan immigrant who took part in a march in Oakland, California. ‘We like to do the work for the American people.’ source

DARTBANNER5.jpg

“Most of the undocumented people come here as a necessity of survival,’’ said Rosendo Delgado, of Latinos United, one of the groups organizing the march. “For them, it’s the only choice.’’ source

DARTBANNER6.jpg

Roberto Organo, an illegal immigrant who said he crossed the border from Mexico 15 years ago, carried a sign that read, “I have a dream. Peace for all my people.”
We are not criminals,” said Roberto Organo, an illegal immigrant from Mexico who said he has lived in the U.S. for 15 years. “We are looking for work to support our families. It’s OK for government to enforce the law but they have to give us a chance.” source

“We came from another country because there was not work, no money and a lot of poverty,” said William Izquierdo, 27, a New Jersey electrician who arrived from Ecuador seven years ago.

“We want to do things legally. There has to be a plan, there has to be a way, that we can come over here and work and we can come and go,” he said. source

Delarmeno Martha, a 23-year-old restaurant dishwasher, earns just $1,000 a month and sends a fifth of that home to his family in Mexico. But Martha, who illegally immigrated three years ago, said he’s planning to take the day off to march, as he did last year to press for legalization and more rights for low-wage workers.
“I’m a total optimist and think if people get to know us, they wouldn’t fear us wanting to be in their country,” Martha said. source

Pablo Cruz, a 31-year-old construction worker who has lived in Santa Ana for nearly two decades, said he took the day off to attend the afternoon’s march in Santa Ana.
“I am not asking for anything from the government. All I want is for them to let me work with pleasure,” said Cruz, a Mexican citizen and father of three. source

NOTICE ANYTHING MISSING?

NOT ONE………NOT ONE……….mentioned anything close to:

I love this country and want to be a part of her….

America is a great country and I would defend and support her….

Becoming an American has been a lifelong dream for me…..

We do not have freedom and opportunity in our country…I love America….

Becoming an American would give me the chance to pay this great country back….

>BR>
These folks are not “HUDDLED MASSES YEARNING TO BREATH FREE”…..
They are not “HOMELESS NOR TEMPEST TOSSED”
They are not interested in becoming Americans………
They are looking for a paycheck……(and benefits)
Nothing more……
LET’S REVIEW:
We came here to work and even to help this country economically.”
“It’s not right to separate families…”
“We like to do the work for the American people.”
“Most of the undocumented people come here as a necessity of survival,’’
“We are looking for work to support our families.”

Do we want to encourage and accept millions of “Guest Workers” into our country who could give a crap about being Americans so long as they get a paycheck to send to their “REAL” homeland every Friday?
America is not some big juicy target to use however suits your purpose. Big Business wants to exploit temporary non-citizen workers…..the workers want to exploit America for a payday…
and You and I are the target………..
.

Millions of people from all over the world come to our country to be Americans.
What’s missing from the minds of these folks “demanding” a piece of the American Dream, is the willingness to assimilate into American society. Assimilation, the process that leads to unity among America’s diverse population, goes hand-in-hand with immigration.
That doesn’t mean you have to abandon your cultural or religious heritage. It means you have to be willing to make some sacrifice to become an American.

statliberty.jpg

Becoming a U.S. citizen is not just a way to improve your economic lot in life. It’s not an elaborate “guest worker” program to send money to third-world countries like Mexico. It’s believing and promising with all your hear that you will defend and support the Constitution of the greatest nation the world has ever known. If you’re not willing to do that, you can’t call yourself an American.

And you have no Right to Demand that which you do not deserve…….

Oklahoma Lawmakers on Illegal Aliens: NOT OK!

Hooray for Oklahoma!

The toughest and most sweeping immigration legislation in America has passed both Houses of the Oklahoma legislature and has been sent to Gov. Brad Henry for approval.

Henry was urged to sign the measure after it was approved in a bipartisan 84-14 vote by the state House, and 41-6 by the Senate last month.

Way to go Oklahoma!

Special Request: Help Alaa come here legally from Iraq

3 05 2007

Cross posted from  Leaning Straight Up

I don’t easily jump on bandwagons, and immigration issues are one of my pet peeves.   But in this case, I think this clearly shows the unfair nature of the present system, and it deserves some attention.

In an age where illegal immigrants are waltzing in untouched and ending up as 1/3 of the California Prison population, it is cruelly ironic that some people who have highly sought skills cannot come in from other parts of the world legally.

A prime example is Alaa, a young Iraqi whom Bryan Suits (KVI 570am) spent a lot of time working with in Iraq a while back.  Alaa was helping Bryan’s unit translate and interrogate people in Iraq.   His actions there showed him to be a man of good character, and he was invaluable in helping our troops.

He is also a trained Pharmacist, something our country has a shortage of.  In short he can fill a necessary and useful role in American society, and unlike the illegals, cannot just jog over the line and then demand citizenship.

He has to contend with a US Visa policy in Iraq that had limited slots for persons helping the military because he wants to come here legally/

Help someone worthy to come into our country.  Watch this video (from Discovery Channel’s “My War Diary”),  of a day in the life of Alaa, on the day of the first Iraqi election, and ask if he deserves a chance at the freedoms you take for granted.

Then send an email to:

kenneth.murray@us.army.mil

And say something like:

To whom it concerns,

I saw the video of the young man featured in the Discovery Channel “My War Diary”, introduced to us by Radio Host Bryan Suits.  I was so moved by Alaa’s story that I want to help this future citizen achieve the American dream for himself.

I feel Alaa has displayed the qualities of loyalty and patriotism to not only America, but the principles Americans hold dearest.

Please forward my personal recommendation that he be offered one of the limited number of Visa’s offered to those working for the Military.   He has proven himself worthwhile of our support.

Tancredo Driving the Debate

3 05 2007

Cross posted from   The Uncooperative blogger

From the Tancredo ‘08 Presidential Campaign:

If you are watching the news today you have probably seen the mass protests by illegal aliens demanding a path to citizenship. Imagine the gall — they sneak in here, wave their flag and demand benefits! — Give us healthcare, give us welfare, school our children — and now — make us citizens! It says a lot about our elites that we have all these people parading their illegal status in the street and instead of arresting them they are putting them on television.

The good news is that with your help we are going to put an end to all this. We have already started. Click here to help!

This week Senator Brownback withdrew his support from an amnesty bill he has been pushing – too little too late. And last week, the Times carried a front page exposé in its politics section detailing Mayor Giuliani’s flip-flop on illegal immigration. Giuliani, the Times explains, has been trying to steer clear of the issue on the campaign trail, but the voters and Tom Tancredo just won’t let him. They keep bringing it up:

At the annual Lincoln Day dinner here last Saturday, Representative Tom Tancredo, [Notice they finally stopped calling me "long shot"] Republican of Colorado, received some of the loudest applause from the 1,000 party loyalists in attendance as he railed against illegal immigrants. “We are destroying the concept of citizenship itself,” Mr. Tancredo said. “America, and indeed Western civilization, are in a crisis.”

I knew Giuliani supported amnesty but even I was shocked at the extent of it. The Times reports that as Mayor, Giuliani, “advocate[ed] for $12 million to start a city agency that would assist those seeking citizenship,” and vigorously defended the city’s sanctuary policy.

Giuliani, Romney, and Brownback are flipping left right and center and the media is finally getting the message. It is all because of your help. And we are not going to quit.

When it comes to immigration Giuliani, McCain, Romney and Brownback are all peas of the same pod. They love to talk about their experience in public service — they may have the competence to run the country but they certainly don’t have the courage to defend it.

It’s just you and me, friends. It is our country, together we are going to take it back.

We are very excited, because in a few hours Tom is taking this message to the Republican debate at the Reagan Library. You can watch the debate Thursday night, May 3rd at 8PM Eastern time on MSNBC.So thanks again for your support, and stay tuned, the headlines are rolling in, the march is on.Thanks for all you do.

God bless you.

Big Banks’ Loan Push: Illegal Aliens

3 05 2007

Cross posted from The Uncooperative Blogger

This comes from the Wall Street Journal, but you need a paid subscription to view it.

From NumbersUsa:

J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. is developing a pilot program to pitch mortgages to illegal immigrants in Maricopa County, Ariz. If the bank proceeds, the plan could launch as soon as this summer. The New York bank joins Citigroup Inc., Wells Fargo & Co. and Fifth Third Bancorp, which also are experimenting with the loans.

Genworth Financial Inc., meanwhile, is testing insurance products tied to the loans. Deutsche Bank AG has teamed up with the Hispanic National Mortgage Association to develop a secondary market where big banks can sell and trade the loans, potentially reducing risk with keeping the mortgages on their balance sheets.[snip]

Because illegal immigrants don’t have Social Security numbers, the banks are accepting government-issued tax-identification numbers for loan applications. The Internal Revenue Service started issuing the nine-digit Income Tax Identification Number, known as an ITIN, in the late 1990s as a way to encourage foreigners without Social Security numbers to file tax returns. To meet “know-your-customer” requirements, banks often require ITIN borrowers to open a bank account before they approve the loan.[snip]

The loans carry a variety of terms and conditions. Interest rates are sometimes higher than traditional mortgages and usually have a 30-year fixed rate or adjustable rate. Instead of relying on credit history, which may not exist for people who often use cash for their purchases, banks typically pay close attention to employment history.

Providing financial services to illegal immigrants is drawing criticism. Supporters say illegal immigrants contribute to the economy, often pay taxes and can help bring rundown communities back to life. Opponents contend that such lending can be risky because they know little about these borrowers’ ability to repay the loans.

J.P. Morgan’s pilot program, called “Building a Dream,” is generating dissension among some of the bank’s underwriters who are reluctant to handle the loans for fear that they violate federal law by encouraging illegal immigrants to stay in the country, said a person familiar with the situation.

A J.P. Morgan spokesman said the bank hasn’t made a final decision about the plan. “We have been looking at a pilot program to offer mortgages to customers with ITINs because we want to find ways to serve all portions of the customer base,” the spokesman said. He confirmed that the pilot was to begin this week, but that it has been delayed as the bank continues to assess the program. He declined to elaborate.

In Maricopa County, which includes the city of Phoenix, the sheriff, whose office has arrested hundreds of illegal immigrants, said banks providing these loans are taking on a risky proposition.

“If I catch these people, they are going back to Mexico and the banks will have a tough time collecting on their loans,” said Sheriff Joseph Arpaio.

Banks remain cautious as they continue to monitor the results of their programs. Wells Fargo is assessing its pilot, called “Celebrate Home,” which started in 2005 in California’s Los Angeles and Orange counties.

Banks are dabbling in these loans at the same time they are trying to limit their exposure to the $1.3 trillion subprime market, which is roiling the industry. Proponents of the ITIN loans say undocumented immigrants are often more likely to pay their mortgages than other borrowers. “Once they get a piece of the American dream, they will do any and everything to make sure that bill is taken care of because it is the only asset they’ve got,” Mr. Sandos said.

How can they be more likely to pay their mortgages, if they get deported?

I hope you are as outraged as I am about this nonsense.

If you do business with these financial groups, stop and tell them why you are no longer doing business with them. If not, contact them with your disgust and explain you will never do business with them or their affiliates.

The National Narrative on Illegal Immigration

3 05 2007

Cross posted from The Undocumented Blogger

Poll after poll shows that the majority of Americans demand border control and are against amnesty. Yet, the national media and our elected leaders continue to tell a different story.
After the second round of May 1st pro-amnesty protests the national story was about the Los Angeles police cracking the heads of “peaceful” protestors. Despite the fact those protesting were by and large criminal illegal aliens and should have been arrested and not allowed to protest, the fact remains it was those very protestors that turned violet causing the necessary response from the LA police to control the situation. These videos (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJu9dX–K1w and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UEqV5zaVCbY) surfaced of an NBC cameraman filming during May 1st protests, clearly showing they are not objective observers as they claim.

Last year, the media and other pro-amnesty advocates attempted to change the language of illegal immigration. Illegal aliens became undocumented workers. Immigrants became migrants, as if the illegal aliens plan to return to Mexico at the end of the season. Amnesty became “a path to citizenship”.

For well over a year pro-amnesty supporters have been creating a narrative to support their agenda while ignoring the simple facts of illegal immigration. Whether it’s corporate slavery or white guilt driving these agendas is tough to say. When both extremes come together like they have on this issue and free trade, it’s the American poor and middleclass that suffer.
