One Way to Fight a Sanctuary City – UPDATE

4 06 2007

Cross posted from The Peoples Patriot

Like the President and Senators who support amnesty, New Haven, Connecticut Mayor Tom DeStefano, the anti-Lou Barletta, is taking enormous heat for his pro illegal alien initiative. In a post from last week, “One Way to Fight a Sanctuary City“, it was reported that New Haven is looking to issue municipal ID cards to illegal aliens.

Channel 8, WTNH reported city residents are responding in anger and in numbers.

“City Hall has been inundated with e-mails from people against the cards.”

The fierce opposition should come as no surprise. Poll after poll illustrates that over two thirds of the American people are against illegal immigration, want our laws enforced and oppose anything that aids it. An astonishing 84% of Americans feel the current amnesty bill (S.1348) won’t stop illegal immigration. As one would expect, there is overwhelming opposition to the ID cards in New Haven.

Pro illegal alien advocates don’t have rational arguments to support their anti American and anti-middle class positions. The polling data, which shines light on “the will of the people”, is clearly against granting amnesty, the current amnesty legislation, and any proposals to make illegal immigration easier or more enticing for aliens to break the law.

Faced with this reality, the pro illegal alien advocates resort to their last hope of a strategy. The use of name calling and denigration. Like Bush, Linda Chavez and Lindsey Graham before him, DeStefano resorts to implying those who oppose his ID Cards for illegal aliens initiative, are haters and scapegoaters.

“This is hate-based literature. It’s done to inspire fear and to make people feel better about themselves by having someone else to blame,” said Mayor DeStefano.”

I don’t know, is this hateful literature? What do you think?

New Haven Mayor Tom DeStefano smears anti illegal alien literature.

The CTCIC literature is available for download here.

Interestingly the ID card initiative is privately funded.

“The mayor says that private funding is behind the cards and threats will not stop him from distributing them.”

Is this another case of the undue influence of business over government? Last time I checked, it is the people who run government, not business or special interests. Far too many politicians have forgotten this basic premise of American government.

DeStefano does make a point though. Just what will stop renegade politicians who refuse the will of the people? The very people who elected them in the first place. Apparently, Connecticut politicians do not believe that national polling data, which shows great opposition to pro illegal alien advocacy, applies to their state. They couldn’t be more wrong and we voters cannot wait to take them to task on election day.

Another disturbing question to ponder is the “in state tuition for illegal aliens bill” that is going to the Governor Rell’s desk. It’s time to urge Governor Rell to veto the bill. You can contact her in the following ways.

Public aid, illegal aliens vs veterans

4 06 2007

Cross posted from    Right Truth

Jerry Davich at the Post Tribune asks, “How can illegal aliens, but not war vets, get public aid?” Obviously a loaded question intent of stirring comments and discussion, but a very interesting topic nevertheless. Davich says:

Local veterans voiced two opposing battle cries after reading my Memorial Day column on Veterans Affairs benefits and eligibility criteria. The first camp claimed it’s true that some vets receive monthly benefit checks for bogus combat-related injuries and ailments. [snip]

The second camp is filled with disgruntled vets who’ve been trying to get VA benefits for years, without any luck, for seemingly legitimate service-related health problems.

Soldiers from both camps shared one common ground: They both noted how tragic it is that illegal aliens who have snuck into America are receiving public aid while ailing military vets who sacrificed their health for this country are getting little or no government assistance.

That’s why I’m looking for local vets who feel they have legitimate claims for VA assistance but have so far been ambushed by red tape, paperwork and delays.

If you know of veterans who are having trouble getting the benefits they deserve, you can contact Jerry Davich at:

Terrorist coming from the southern borders?

4 06 2007

Cross posted from   JCcordray

Well my post of terrorist coming from the southern borders has struck up some rather strange conversations at work. Seems some think that notion is a bit extreme, but as I read and listen to the news over the last few days I see that what I have feared and read about for years has came to past.

Busted: NYC terror plot Updated with criminal complaint
By Michelle Malkin   •   June 02, 2007 02:00 PM

Now as you can see these men came from where? Rumored to be from or came through Mexico or possibly Latin America. Wait … wait that is the southern border! Well maybe I am wrong after all in Nov. of 1986 the “Immigration Reform and Control Act” was passed (another Kennedy project I believe).

So how can this be? Congress passed a law to take care of all this in 1986
“Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986″.

So why is it that the Senate is debating yet another Immigration Reform Act? In 1986 the word was that once this bill was passed we the people of the United States of America would no longer have to think about the illegal immigrants or our southern borders. What they meant to say was they would no longer have to think about our southern borders because they had no plans on doing anything about it then nor do they plan on doing anything about it now.

Of course the same deal on a closed border is now being force fed to us the people who have always trusted our government to do what’s right for the U.S. Of course if one would take the time to read the bill the very same double talk that was used in 1986 can be found in 2007.

Now the times have changed in the last 21 years, so why are we so worried we allowed an amnesty bill back then and also allowed our borders to be left open. So what’s the big deal today?

Well there is the 9/11/01 issue that was not even considered as an issue in 1986

Then there were the shoe bombers in 2002.

Of course the 2007 Fort Dix attack plot.

The list just goes on and on……

Well I see a bit of a problem with just saying we “will secure the borders” rather then really doing something about it we have all heard the talk before. Now let’s see them walk the walk, you want Immigration Reform then do something about the borders and remove the millions of federal criminals from our lands then let’s talk “Reform”. Until then forget trying to sell me on a bill that does no more now then what it did back in 1986, free ride for those that we need to be aware of.

It’s Time to Change Government Leadership; It’s Time to Change the Nation!

Lamar Alexander interview with Bill Hobbs (more on amnesty)

4 06 2007

Cross posted from   Bear Creek Ledger

Strangely enough, Bill Hobbs received a call today from Lamar Alexander’s office for an interview.  Strange because Hobbs had requested an interview weeks if not months ago.  But all of the sudden there it was today at the last minute.  It couldn’t have anything to do with last Saturday?  Could it?

It’s about a 15 minute phone interview.  Most of what Alexander said about the immigration bill wasn’t a surprise.  There was no commitment from Alexander to vote against S.1348 although I don’t think Hobbs has the total interview available yet.  Regarding the meet and greet in Cookeville, Alexander said there were only 20 unhappy people there.  I do believe that was an understatement.  Although I have heard people say there were 200 people in attendance I think it was closer to 100 people.  But of those 100 people, I’d say 90 of them were extremely unhappy with Alexander and what he had to say about the immigration bill.  He did admit he was surprised by the response and the people at the meet and greet.  People drove in from all over the state.  Alexander attributed this to talk radio [read: Steve Gill].  Alexander said he has been doing these county meetings around the state but I don’t recall one for Williamson County.  I’m pretty sure I would have heard unless it was only for county party officials and even then I probably would have heard about it.

Go listen and tell me what your reaction is to Alexander’s responses about the immigration bill.

Chambliss and Isakson claim they are on the fence…literally.

4 06 2007

Cross posted from   Georgia Crime Watch

Senators Chambliss and Isakson are still doing damage control for the new Senate immigration bill(S. 1348). In fact, they say they want to hear from YOU before they go vote on the matter this week. If you haven’t done so already, please call and voice your opinion on how immigration should be handled: 1-800-234-4208

Here is Chambliss’ latest statement:

Both Senator Isakson and I fought hard during the negotiations to ensure that conservative principles, including a border security first provision to eliminate illegal immigration, are included in the legislation. If a final bill does not meet this and other specific criteria important to me and important to Georgians, I will not support it. There are a number of things in this bill that I don’t agree with and Georgians don’t agree with. However, we will never get a chance to improve the bill if we can’t get an agreement to debate the bill. Georgians did not elect me to sit on the sidelines. I look forward to taking part in this important debate.

Either way, Chambliss better tread lightly, because he is up for re-election and a Democratic opponent just came out of the woodwork.

Bill would put high school grads on fast track to legal status

A section of the new legislation deals with illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children. They would gain temporary legal status when they graduate from high school as long as they agreed to enroll in college or enlist in the military.

The portion above does not sound like a bad idea, yet GACW still defaults back to enforcement. HOW are all of these new provisions in S.1348 going to be enforced, when the Federal Government has not enforced immigration law in the past? Do we move forward and hope they will do what they say? Maybe watch this issue more closely and rattle the cages if we see any dereliction of duty? Or are you just completely fed up with the Government not following through?

**CRIME**

It seems as if prostitution is another job Americans just won’t do. Luckily ICE was in on the following bust this weekend:

Authorities arrest three in prostitution ring

Onufre Jimenez-Ferreira, 55, of Atlanta; Relle Rosara-De Los Santo, 39, of Gainesville; and Carla Hernandez Mendoz, 35, of Gainesville were taken into custody after a raid on a house on Cleveland Street.

The FBI says crime is officially on the rise in America. Could MEXICAN GANGS have anything to do with this trend? Absolutely, which is why it completely astounds me to know there is a section in the new immigration bill that allows illegal alien gang members to become American citizens…as long as they renounce their gang affiliation, of course SmileyCentral.com.

From “Permanent Republican Majority” to “end of the party as we know it” within 5 years.

4 06 2007

Cross posted from StikNstein…has no mercy

From a Commenter:
“After this stupidity, will people still believe Karl Rove is a master politicial operator? I doubt it. From “permanent Republican majority” to “end of the party as we know it” within 5 years. Congratulations, Bush…..”

What kind of Republican are you?

1) Racist
2) Nativist
3) Xenophobe
4) Bigot
5) Anti American
6) Or just plain stupid

Well…it depends on which Republican leader you are talking to.

S.1348 is in trouble. Over the long Memorial holiday Republican supporters of the sham bill have been set back on their heels by the reaction of their constituency. This reality slap is revealing.

sinking.jpg

It demonstrates two things.
The first is, Republicans are woefully out of touch with the people who elect them.
The second is the internet is clearly having an impact on how Congress will do it’s business in the future. (This is something new and scary for them)

Congress:
Senator Kyl R-AZ said ” He learned a few new words from his “supporters” this week.
Lindsay Graham was soundly booed at a Republican fund raiser. Lamar Alexander had to virtually “run for cover” at a town meeting with constituents…..
From Blue Collar Muse

The ‘After opening remarks Sen. Alexander will take questions from his constituents’ format was quickly abandoned by the Senator (or his handlers, or both) in favor of the new and improved ‘Sen. Alexander will talk quietly and one-on-one with constituents’
He removed his lapel Mic.The Senator was asked to use the mike again so everyone could hear his comments. Senator Alexander did not comply with that request.
When attendees objected to the abrupt change in format they were advised the meeting was being held on private property and by people that had the right to make changes. If those changes were unacceptable, those objecting were advised they were free to leave.

ratblacksmall.jpgratblacksmall.jpg

Need More?
Chertoff didn’t just infer but was quoted “Some people think anything less than capital punishment is amnesty.”
Lindsay Graham said ” We are going to tell the bigots to just “Shut Up”
President Bush inferred that Congress should admit it wont enforce our laws and that thoughtful Americans who feel we should, didn’t want what’s best for the Country.

The administration is so desperate to have some legacy…..any legacy….that it is reverting to an inane “sticks and stones”….”You’re not the boss of me” response.
HEH….but, we are the boss of you. Not the Chamber of Commerce, Not the Mexican Government, Not the League of Catholic whatever’s…..WE ARE…..
We’re just trying to help you realize that before it’s too late for YOU….

The other thing is the impact the internet is having on the “Politics is what we report it is” collusion between the Main stream media with their agenda, and What our Representatives DON”T want us to know.
This old buddy relationship is falling apart at the seams.

ratblackleftsmall.jpg

A video of a Wall Street Journal editorial meeting is hilarious. (video at Hot Air HERE) These pompous asses hold Americans in as much contempt as their Elected leaders do…Chertoff and Guiterrez and La Raza couldn’t have scripted their perspective any better.(apologies Peggy Noonan)To quote Willie Wonka…”So shines a good deed in a weary world.”

Copies of the “Draft Bill” were almost immediately blazed across the internet.
The Truth Laid Bear immediately put up a version that you could read and comment on.
Stik will admit….I read every page. I’m not an activist…just an ordinary shmo with a college degree and a blog. I can only say, if this is something these guys are proud of, they need to read “The Peter Principle”
Having been fooled by the “We’re tough on border security FENCE BILL of 2006″ SO RE-ELECT ME” scam our Republican Representatives pulled on us last year……thousands of us could actually read this legislation.
President Bush said ”

This bill says, temporary, it means temporary.

IT IS BY NO MEANS TEMPORARY

A temporary worker program will not begin until our border security measures are in place, and until we have a reliable system for verifying employment eligibility. That’s the way the bill works

IT DOES NOT WORK THIS WAY

For the skeptics who say that we’re not concerned about border security or workplace enforcement, they need to read the bill

SECOND ONLY TO WORKPLACE ENFORCEMENT, BORDER SECURITY HAS MORE THAN ENOUGH LOOPHOLES TO MAKE IT TOTALLY INEFFECTUAL.

Oh, I’m sure you’ve heard some of the talk out there about people defining the bill. It’s clear they hadn’t read the bill. They’re speculating about what the bill says, and they’re trying to rile up people’s emotions. This is a good piece of legislation.

SO HERE’S THE RUB…….To the chagrin of both the President and Congress, for the first time, thousands of Americans HAVE read the bill. And thanks to the internet and web news sites and bloggers, those thousands have made millions actually aware of what a sorry piece of legislation it is.

OOPS…..BUSTED!

Our Republican Leadership knows this bill is not a “starting point” which will be made better and stronger……It will be made weaker and more impotent. It is designed and written with that end in mind. Any idiot can see that. They just think we’re dumber than dumb. Their disingenuous response to the outrage of their party makes this apparent.
Republicans in Washington and around the country better realize quick, we are not racist, or Xenophobic. We are just watching you and demanding that you perform competently….or at least not stupidly.

A few commenters perspectives:

I know this is a tricky one for a lot of people so I’ll keep my plan short and sweet. You ready? Here it is:
STEP #1 – ENFORCE THE LAWS ON THE BOOKS!!! Thats it. That is the entire plan from start to finish. We DO NOT need new laws. We DO NOT need different laws. We DO NOT need more laws.

ratblacksmall.jpg

You know, with Congress and the president’s approval rating in the toilet, is it any wonder why the want all these “new” voters to pander too?

Another reason why the nutroots aren’t saying much: they don’t have to. The Republican party is self-destructing over this, not from a fundamental split in its base, but from a fundamental split between the base and its leadership. Why should the nutroots say anything when the Republicans are committing suicide?

In Mexico, entering and staying illegally is a felony. Citizens are tracked and all visitors, upon entering, are triggering a tracking number to be opened. Here it’s a misdemeanor, and he belittles millions who question why not even that is being addressed.

ratblackleftsmall.jpg
Mexico’s laws being followed is protecting a sovereign country.
Our laws being followed is racism.

He needs to read up what amnesty means. This distorted approach from the WH will backfire. I’d much rather they call it amnesty and then try to sell it.

Chertoff: Some people think anything less than capital punishment is amnesty
No.
Anything less than enforcing the law is amnesty.

I feel like Charlie Brown with Lucy holding the football.

Hey, the Republicans are cutting their own throats. Chertoff and Bush are ignoring every point that the American people have when they demand border security. Instead, they call more than 70% of the US population a bunch of racists and pretend we’re lunatics.

There’s an old saying: When your opponent is self destructing, get out of his way. Do you notice how conspicuously absent most of the Dems are here. Harry and Nancy have made some shallow comments, but they are letting Bush and the Republicans take the beating for this travesty.

ratblacksmall.jpg

Back in 1986 it was “unrealistic” to round up and deport the 3 million illegal immigrants in the United States then….
In 92 it was unrealistic to round up and deport the 8 million illegal immigrants in the United States then….
In 2007 it was unrealistic to round up and deport the 15-20 million illegal immigrants in the United States then….
In 2015 it will be unrealistic to round up and deport the 25-40 million illegal immigrants in the United States then….

Amnesty is not about how you become a citizen.
The word is from the same root as “amnesia.” It means you forget or overlook some crime, as if it never happened. All this elaborate talk about the steps illegal immigrants must go through to become citizens is a distraction from the crime they committed when they crossed the border illegally.
Instead, all attention is focused on what to do to accommodate those who committed this crime.

They are trying the liberal trick of making your opposition look like extremists

When you reward a criminal with the object of their crime, requiring nothing more than a token “penalty”, that is amnesty… plain and simple. We do not catch car thieves and allow them to purchase the car they stole for pennies on the dollar!

ratblackleftsmall.jpg
I’m already tired of seeing the line or its variation…..
they are just trying to support their families (whether it references the illegal or business owner)…….so is any other criminal. Every time an illegal uses our public services they are stealing plain and simple. Every time a business owner hires an illegal they are breaking the law.
There are laws to ensure society runs fairly smoothly. If everyone gets to decide what laws they want to follow then we’ll have anarchy.
I can think of plenty of laws I don’t want to follow. Since I would be trying to provide for my family I guess it would be okay to break them right?

The only thing broken about immigration is the lack of attention paid to the employers of illegal immigrants. If more employers were heavily fined or jailed due to breaking existing labor laws, there would be no illegal immigration.

How many other countries in the world can millions of illegal immigrants walk in to, find a job, use it’s schools, hospitals, etc., pay no taxes, convince politicians to have everything printed in their homelands language and then expect they have a “legal” right to citizenship. The rest of the world is laughing at what pushovers the American public is.

Lawbreakers are lawbreakers. The illegals will not leave unless they are detained and deported. You can pass whatever new laws you wish, they will not respect them! Wake up America! They have already used my social security number over 100 times. This sucks!

Senator Mel Martinez (R-FL) said this past weekend on national media that this new bill has the potential to “save” the Republican Party!!! He apparently believes this RUBBISH.

WARNING TO ALL FEDERAL-LEVEL POLITICIANS: I can think of no other issue in my lifetime that has the same potential to readily dismantle the Republican Party as soon as 2008 as this one does. I will not vote for now, or anytime in the future, any federal politician from either party that represents me that votes “aye” on this legislation. I suspect there are many, many millions of us out there that feel the same way (both Dems and Reps

The phrase “shall be effective” refers the alleged “triggers”. However, “the probationary benefits” are explicitly exempted from the so-called “triggers”…..HA!…While illegal immigrant Z visa holders may be exempted from what this bill purports to achieve, my Republican Senators and Congressmen will not enjoy such an exemption next November…..

State GOP who oppose RNC on amnesty see pickup in fundraising

4 06 2007

Cross posted from   Bear Creek Ledger

With the decline in RNC fundraising (contrary to what they want to believe) due to their promotion and support of amnesty for illegal aliens it looks like the state GOP who oppose amnesty are picking up in their fundraising and donations.

There was the story last week about the decline with RNC collection from small dollar donors and the numbers show this.

From The Washington Times:

The pain is particularly felt at the Republican National Committee. First-quarter fundraising by the national committee this year was the most difficult in four years, according to records of the Federal Election Commission. In the first three months of this year, the committee collected $24.6 million, down from $35 million in the comparable period last year, $32.3 million in the first quarter of 2005 and $46 million in the first quarter of 2004.snip….. The National Republican Senatorial Committee reports similar distress. The Senate committee raised $9.1 million through April — less than half the $18.3 million raised by the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee during the same period.

There are several states who have benefited from this grassroots rejection of the national level of the GOP’s stance on supporting amnesty and illegal aliens:

snip….Tina Benkiser, chairwoman of the Republican Party in the president’s home state of Texas, says raising money has been successful “in large part to our principled stance against illegal immigration.” Since the beginning of 2006Both phone and direct-mail fundraising remain strong for the party in Michigan, says state Chairman Saul Anuzis.

“In Michigan, seven out of nine congressional Republicans oppose the bill, our activists are publicly opposing amnesty, and we are also re-establishing our brand image by fighting a Democrat attempt to increase taxes,” Mr. Anuzis says. “These issues are keeping our people engaged, where otherwise we could feel a [donations] drop-off.”

Similar reports from other state Republican officials in Arizona, Colorado, Iowa and Delaware suggest that opposition to any form of amnesty for illegal aliens is a fundraising winner.

snip….In Arizona, where both Republican senators, Jon Kyl and John McCain, support the immigration bill, state Chairman Randy Pullen has strongly opposed the measure, as have most of the other state party officials.

So RNC and NRSC just continue to alienate your base. Calling them nativists and fear mongers and other names will drive the base to an independent status. Oh but you think you’ll pick up all those “Hispanic” GOP members. I wonder how you’re doing on that end? Not good I’d bet.

Command and Conquer Red Alert Part 2 Revised

4 06 2007

Cross posted from    JCcordray

When the real Red Alert happens it will be no game, we will be fighting in our own yards to keep our freedom, that freedom that our elected officials are so willing to just give away.

The terrorist whom we are already fighting with on foreign soil will now be in our own yards. Our children will no longer be free to play outside, while we cower in fear of the next terrorist attack. The question is no longer “will it happen again”, but when will it happen again?
As the elected officials sit around debating this bill and struggle to gain support from their constituents, hundreds of illegal immigrants will sneak past our southern border some to work others to destroy our way of life, and kill off our brothers and sisters.

I had in mind to bring out many more articles where our elected officials, our own government knew about all this but as I searched over the net I seen no reason to point out the obvious. We people that wish to see a secure and safe America, along with a fare deal for those immigrants who elected to come here legally are now becoming the issue.
So this article took a turn right in the middle of writing it.

As seen here over at the Peoples Patriot Blog  “Bush Ya Talking to Me?”

Our President the man we elected to keep our best interest, and country safe is now claming us the American people to be the problem.
“If you want to kill the bill, if you don’t want to do what’s right for America, you can pick one little aspect out of it, you can use it to frighten people.”

Linda Chavez calls us racist;
“Some people just don’t like Mexicans — or anyone else from south of the border. They think Latinos are freeloaders and welfare cheats who are too lazy to learn English. They think Latinos have too many babies, and that Latino kids will dumb down our schools. They think Latinos are dirty, diseased, indolent and more prone to criminal behavior. They think Latinos are just too different from us ever to become real Americans.”

We have become “bigots” as Lindsey Graham states as he receives an award from the La Raza;   Lindsay Graham to La Raza: “We’re gonna tell the bigots to shut up.”

Me a racist? Just a little side note for those of you who do not know me. I am the only son out of seven children, yes I have six sisters. I never had a brother to look up to in my youth but what I did have were brother-in-laws. Two of them helped shape the man I am today.
The oldest sister married her high school sweetheart. His name is Juan Antonio Valdez, his family still lives in San Antonio Tx. They came here “legally” in the 50’s. Tony is the name he goes by is a true American rag to riches story. I will not go into that here but lets just say he instilled into me that work hard and abide by the laws set up here in the great U.S. anything can be done.

Second oldest sister married Roberto Tovar (if he has a middle name he never told anyone in the family what it might be). They still live in San Antonio, Robert is a hard working drafts man who has traveled all over the U.S. including the Hawaiian Islands, his family story is just like the other brother-in-law. His contribution in my youth was education will get you everywhere you want to go.

So those of you that wish to call me a “bigot/racist” take another look, I have no hard feelings for hard working immigrants that come here using our legal system that has always been there. But I do have an issue with those that sneak past our laws, invade our borders and live in the shadows, those that may be here to cause harm to me and my family.

If you want my amnesty then go home, then return using the legal system set in place like all of those immigrants that came here before you did. Seek the “American Dream” better yourself and your family. I have no issue with that, but break our laws and you should suffer the same criminal justice that all Americans do. Crossing our borders illegally is a federal crime and should be treated as such no matter what the cost is.

I do feel sorry for those illegal immigrants that have come here to seek the “American Dream” that are truly here to become part of our great nation. But to me you are in the same boat as any criminal that insist on breaking our laws.

You did it to get here so what will keep you from breaking even more laws while you are here?

Answer that question with real proof and maybe you can convince me that this so called “Immigration Reform Bill” is worth more then the paper it is written on.

It’s Time to Change Government Leadership; It’s Time to Change the Nation!
