A new American Revolution, Fought with words and ideas

I listen to talk radio whenever I get the opportunity. I hope to do see even though Senator Trent Lott thinks I shouldn’t. I heard Mike Church talking about the eleven grievances from the original Declaration Of Independence that he believes apply today. Check it out here:

Mike Church’s Re-Declaration of Independence

Foghorn Leghorn (as Laura Ingraham refers to Trent Lott) wants to join Lindsay Graham in shutting the “loud people” up on this issue of illegal immigration. We, the people are too stupid to understand the intricacies of cutting back room deals with Tec Kennedy in order for government to accomplish anything. Talk radio connects with people and our senators can’t have the people involved.

I say we, the people have been galvanized by this most recent and most obvious act of tyranny by the government that has grown into an out of control monster. We, the  people are letting our voices be heard in a way I didn’t know would be possible. Talk radio, blogs, and alternative media provide channels of information and sharing of thought that ensures everyone can be heard.

I am inspired by the vocal will of so many Americans to not let the elites in Washington help Teddy steer our nation off a bridge and into The Rio Grande. We have found our voice and we must continue to be “loud people!” We will let our political representatives know our opinions and how their actions will affect our votes and contributions.

Let us do what we can to ensure American citizenship still means something.

Trent Lott enters dangerous territory

17 06 2007

Cross posted from    Right Truth

Trent Lott opened his mouth and stepped on very dangerous territory with these statements:

The Republican whip, Trent Lott of Mississippi, who supports the bill, said: “Talk radio is running America. We have to deal with that problem.”At some point, Mr. Lott said, Senate Republican leaders may try to rein in “younger guys who are huffing and puffing against the bill.” (NYT)

A.C. at Fore Left! responds to Lott’s remarks:

What would he recommend, breaking out the thumbscrews? My comment–what a colossal jerk turd. Even if this was taken out of context (it was in the New York Times) it still represents the stink off the pile–one of those truthy moments that sometimes winds up in the public discourse, something apparently Lott doesn’t believe in anymore. Hearts and minds, Senator.

Conservative Common Man responds to Lott:

A.C. on immigration:

It makes the most sense to kick this issue into the 2008 presidential debate. The politicos would rather eat dog poop, which is even more reason. In the meantime let them show us what a whole year of border enforcement looks like, just a crackdown on illegals who’ve committed crimes in this country would do fine [snip]Americans are not grotesquely stupid. We know this is a representative government. And we know that issues aren’t always decided via majority rule. But this issue really is a no-brainer. If Congress wants our support on comprehensive reform they need to earn it. (more)

I agree with A.C. Let’s see some improvements at securing the border before anything else gets done. At to Trent Lott’s statements, big mistake on his part. CNN had an article acknowledging the power of the blogs in stalling the recent immigration bill. However, that article has since been removed. Accident? Probably not.

Will our youth be affected?

Well I haven’t been blogging like I should the past week or so but I have not forgotten what’s going on.

Just the past week we have been discussing this immigration issue at work and off of work. I ran into a young black man at a gas station close to home who just broke out in the electrical trade. He makes $3 less an hour then I do, he has asked for a raise a couple of times but the owner of the electrical company has hinted that he can hire people all day long that will do the job for what he is making and some times even less.

Aint this great news, the reason I can get a higher wage is because I have 30 years in the trade and I know a wide range of the trade. Control work, data and communication, security and fire protection. I do CCTV, Simplex fire alarm and Audio Visual along with the high voltage and transformers.

Anyways as we stood around filling our cars at the gas pumps we started talking about the neighborhood we both live in. This young man has lived around here since elementary school. We both think the area is a nice quite place but he is concerned with the abundant Hispanic population that has moved in over the last few years.

He talked about the traffic and how it seemed that most of the Hispanic drivers either did not know the road laws or just did not care about them. He has had three wrecks in the last 16 months he said all due to an illegal Hispanic driver that failed to obey the law.

Each time the driver of the other vehicle was at fault and did not have insurance, and seemed to have just disappeared when the law tried to track them down for court.

So here we have a young man, that can’t get a decent wage for his skill. His insurance has almost doubled over the last year, said his property value is dropping due to the “neighborhood going south” (this was his words not mine). Is he mad? Why hell yeah he is!

Inflation is up, taxes are going up and wages are going down, we all should be mad. But our government is trying to say that these illegal immigrants are just over here trying to do the jobs we won’t do (we as in the American people). Well I have news for them they are taking our jobs and lowering our wages while they do it.

So while some of us who has been around the block can survive our youth will find it harder to make a living once this shamnesty bill is enacted, Social Security in the future will get hit hard, Medicaid will be just a memory, retirement will be a nightmare as our government takes more from us to cover the cost of the ones that will not be paying their way.

So if nothing else let’s at least try and think of our children’s future lets put a stop on this bill and secure our borders and clean up our country. Then if the job market needs all these extra workers they can be processed and integrated into the US after they learn our laws and language. I don’t think that is too much to ask for.

It’s Time to Change Government Leadership; It’s Time to Change the Nation!

Should illegal aliens serve in the military?

17 06 2007

There may a provision in the immigration bill to provide “a way for
high-achieving children of undocumented or illegal residents to join
the military and, ultimately, become citizens.” I would love to know
your opinion on this. From the Department of Defense website Bill
Carr, acting deputy undersecretary of defense for military personnel
policy, hopes the Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors,
or DREAM provision, “won’t fall off the radar screen.” (big hat tip to
Ortho at Baudrillard’s Bastard)

“In other words, if you had come across (the border) with your
parents, yet you were a minor child and have been in the U.S. school
system for a number of years, then you could be eligible to enlist,”
he said. “And at the end of that enlistment, then you would be
eligible to become a citizen.”

Because the provision would have applied only to the “cream of the
crop” of students who have demonstrated top aptitude, it would have
been “very appealing” to the military, Carr said. “It would have been
good for readiness,” he said.

While President Bush returns to Washington to help revive the
stalled immigration reform package, Carr said talk is already taking
place to see if at least the DREAM provision of the stalled bill can
proceed.

At this point, he said, “we are not sure if the Congress would be
interested in resurrecting that segment of the bill.”

Certain non-citizens have been eligible to enlist in the military
since the Revolutionary War. Today, about 35,000 non-citizens serve in
the military, and about 8,000 permanent resident aliens enlist every
year, said Marine Maj. Stuart Upton, a Pentagon spokesman.

The 2006 National Defense Authorization Act established uniform
citizenship or residency requirements for enlisting in the military.
President Bush’s executive order allowing non-citizens to apply for
citizenship after only one day of active-duty military service remains
in effect, Upton said. (DOD)
