Muslims, America, and Immigration

18 06 2007

Cross posted from   Right Truth
Two friends write on two topics that mesh perfectly. Glen Reinsford,
editor of The Religion of Peace website and author of a must read
book, Age of Tolerance, writes an article today about Muslim
immigration to the United States at Family Security Matters.

Muslimimmigration Muslim Immigration: A Winning or Losing
Proposition for America?

Pardon the crude analogy, but what if someone handed you a
revolver with one bullet and five empty chambers and asked you to put
it to your temple and squeeze the trigger? Would you indulge them?

If you are a sane person, then you would naturally decline the
offer, regardless of the number of empty chambers. Even a one in a
hundred chance of doing harm is hardly a reason, in and of itself, for
taking an unnecessary risk.

Consider the similarities to Muslim immigration:

1) In most cases, nothing bad will happen.
2) In some cases, it will.
3) The risk increases as the process continues.
4) There is an utter pointlessness to the whole affair.

First, let’s concede that the majority of Muslim immigrants mean
Americans no harm. They have their reasons for not wanting to live in
Muslim countries and these aren’t hard to guess. Of the fifty-three
Islamic nations on the planet, there is hardly a single one that isn’t
characterized by some combination of debilitating corruption, economic
blight, third-world standard of living, political repression, or an
appalling human rights condition.

Unfortunately, however, more Muslims in America will inevitably
result in a more Muslim America, which ultimately means having to deal
with the problems that plague Muslim society. If there are tangible
benefits that offset the added strain of trying to accommodate a
religion that is very much at odds with Western liberal values
(including freedom of conscience, social tolerance, democracy, and the
equality of women), then they are not immediately apparent.

That’s only the beginning of the article, go read it all here

The take-away quote for me from Glen Reinsford is this, ” … the
message should be clear: “If you want to live in a Muslim country,
then go live in one. On the other hand, if you don’t want to live in a
Muslim country, then stop trying to turn America into one.” This could
be adapted to any group of immigrants to the US. The group that
obviously comes to mind are the Mexicans. The impression I get is that
many of the pro-open borders groups supporting the Mexican illegals,
are not hoping to assimilate into the United States and become
Americans. On the contrary, their goal seems to be taking back
portions of the US they believe should be part of Mexico.

Another friend, R.J. Godlewski, describes his article like this …
“an article about personal observation not international relations or
even history”, he begins:

Looking for a few good Muslims…

“The Lord replied, `If I find fifty innocent people in the city of
Sodom, I will spare the whole place for their sake.’” — Gn 18:26)

We all know how the Genesis story ended; persistent Abraham worked
the Lord’s patience down to ten innocent people before God finally
nuked the damn place off of the planet and into the annals of Biblical
history. Well, maybe He didn’t nuke the place, but He sure as hell
carpet bombed Sodom and Gomorrah into non-existence leaving countless
generations wondering what exactly was so evil about the two cities
that couldn’t even account for ten decent souls. Flash ahead a few
thousand years and I, myself, wonder about the prospects of finding
innocent people living within the Middle East; perhaps the entire
region is under some divine justice that will allow itself to
disintegrate into utter chaos.

Yes, I know. There are at least ten decent, law-abiding, faithful
citizens living in the region. I just wonder about their leaders –
particularly those among the ranks of the ulema (religious scholars).
The region is disintegrating into complete mayhem and yet I don’t see
many – if any – people calling for peace, compassion, or tolerance.
What I do see, however, is blame. Blame against Israel. Blame against
America. Blame against globalization. Even blame against other Muslims
(e.g., Sunni versus Shiite and vice versa). Apparently, the greatest
effort from the Muslim elite is simply pointing the finger at others.

You should go read it all here, because Godlewski ends his excellent
article with a challenge for Muslim individuals. I hope they will
respond. I really do.

Sen. DeMint’s letter to President on immigration laws

18 06 2007

Cross posted from   Bear Creek Ledger

Senator James DeMint and 8 other Republican Senators sent a letter to President Bush last week which identified measures to secure and manage the US borders.  All measures exist in current law!

Too bad Tennessee’s 2 Senators (Corker & Alexander) didn’t sign on to this letter!  No instead, they’ve signed onto the Hutchinson Amendment which has the “touchback” feature.  This is supposed to lull Tennesseans into thinking both Senators are concerned about the immigration bill?  The way the situation stands today is a vote for cloture is a vote for the S.1348 Immigration bill.  Any Republican Senator who votes yes for cloture is voting for the passage of S.1348 regardless if that Senator votes no on the actual bill S.1348.  Here’s how it works – cloture will end debate to force a vote on S.1348.  Cloture requires 60 votes to pass and the S.1348 bill vote requires 51 votes to pass.  The pro immigrationists have the 51 votes, they don’t have 60 votes for cloture……YET.  Just be sure to pay attention to how your Senator votes on cloture and remember if they are running for re-election in 2008.  Now – get on the stick and contact your Senators to let them know you don’t want them to vote for either cloture or s.1348.

Here is the letter:

Border Security Can Be Implemented Without Senate BillJune 12th, 2007 – Today, nine U.S. Senators wrote a letter to President Bush urging him to fulfill the border security provisions listed in the Senate immigration bill whether the legislation passes or not. Each border security trigger in the bill can be implemented under current law without any need for new legislation from Congress. The text of the letter is below:

Dear Mr. President:

We respectfully ask that your Administration enforce the border security laws that have already been authorized by Congress regardless of whether the Senate passes the immigration reform bill. The bill assumes that several critical border security benchmarks can be achieved within 18 months. These security triggers are already authorized under current law and can be completed without the immigration bill. We believe these enforcement measures are vital and should not wait until Congress passes additional immigration reforms.

Securing the border is the best way to restore trust with the American people and facilitate future improvements of our immigration policy.

Sincerely,

U.S. Senators Jim DeMint (R – South Carolina), Tom Coburn (R – Oklahoma), Mike Enzi (R – Wyoming), David Vitter (R – Louisiana), Jim Inhofe (R – Oklahoma), Jim Bunning (R – Kentucky), Charles Grassley (R – Iowa), John Ensign (R – Nevada) and Jeff Sessions (R – Alabama).

###

The Senate immigration bill calls for the following security benchmarks to be completed as a “trigger” before other parts of the bill go into effect. Bill proponents claim these provisions can be implemented within 18 months. All of them can be implemented under current law:

• Bill Trigger #1 – 18,000 agents border patrol agents;
— This is already scheduled under current law: Customs and Border Patrol Press Release 8/4/2006: “In May, President Bush announced his commitment to hire an additional 6,000 agents by the end of 2008, bringing the Border Patrol’s total strength to 18,000 agents.”

• Bill Trigger #2 – 200 miles of vehicle barriers, 370 miles of fencing, and 70 ground-based radar and camera towers, and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles;
— This requires less than is already required under current law. The Secure Fence Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush in 2006, already requires 700 miles of two-layered reinforced fencing along Southwest border, mandates DHS achieve operational control over entire border through “virtual fence” that deploys cameras, ground sensors, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, and integrated surveillance technology.

• Bill Trigger #3 – End “catch and release” and provide ICE 27,500 beds for immigration detainees;
— According to DHS, both of these triggers have already been accomplished. DHS Press Release 10/30/2006: “Ended `Catch-and-Release’ Along the Borders: In 2006, the Department of Homeland Security and ICE re-engineered the detention and removal process to end this practice along the border… ICE also increased its detention bed space by 6,300 during the fiscal year 2006, bringing the current number of funded beds to 27,500 immigration detainees.”

• Bill Trigger #4 – Secure identification documents with photo and biometric information and operational employment verification system to determine work eligibility
— The REAL ID Act, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Bush in 2005, already requires secure identification documents with photo and biometric information.
— The Department of Homeland Security appropriations bill for Fiscal Year 2007, passed by Congress and signed into law in 2006, already provides $113 million to fully expand the Basic Pilot / Employment Eligibility Verification (EEV) system to be a national employment database.

Other Border Security Provisions of Current Law

• Achieve and maintain operational control over the entire international land and maritime borders of the United States as required under the Secure Fence Act of 2006 (Public Law 109-367)

• Fully integrate all databases maintained by DHS which contain information on aliens as required by section 202 of the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002 (8 U.S.C. 1722).

• Fully implement US-VISIT program to record the departure of every alien departing the United States and match records of departure with the records of arrivals in the United States as required by section 110 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1221 note).

• Enforce the provision of law that prevents States and localities from adopting “sanctuary” policies or that prevents State and local employees from communicating with DHS as required by section 642 of the Illegal Immigration Reform and Immigrant Responsibility Act of 1996 (8 U.S.C. 1373).

• Fully operational equipment at each port of entry and uses such equipment in a manner that allows unique biometric identifiers to be compared and visas, travel documents, passports, and other documents authenticated in accordance with section 303 of the Enhanced Border Security and Visa Entry Reform Act of 2002 (8 U.S.C. 1732).

• An alien with a border crossing card is prevented from entering the United States until the biometric identifier on the border crossing card is matched against the alien as required by section 101(a)(6) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1101(a)(6)).

• Any alien who is likely to become a public charge is denied entry into the United States pursuant to section 212(a)(4) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (8 U.S.C. 1182(a)(4)).

Course I’m sure the Dhimmicrats and pro-amnesty Republicans in the Senate won’t let a few facts get in their way towards giving 12 to 20 million illegal aliens amnesty!

The Parade of the Lemmings Continues

18 06 2007

Cross posted from   Common Sense America

Well, well, well, IT’S BACK!!!

Good old S.1348, the “grand bargain”, the “grand compromise”, the “grand betrayal”, or whatever name you want to call it will be rearing its ugly head again in our Senate this week.

Refusing to listen to the outrage clearly resounding from Americans across this nation, our elected officials – on both sides of the aisle – have shown exactly who they work for over the past few weeks. Themselves.

Where they stand:

President Bush publicly called for Hispanics to drown out American voices on this issue:

President Bush yesterday told Hispanics to step into the middle of the immigration debate and make sure senators who have been bombarded with calls from opponents also hear from those who support the bill.

Senator Lindsey Graham calls Americans “bigots” and tells La Raza we must be “shut up”.

Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff tried twisting a few arms with this little gem:

“I understand that some people think it’s not tough enough. Maybe they want people thrown in jail for 10 years or they want people executed.”

While our President continues to lead the charge against the will of the American people:

Meanwhile, DHS Sec. Mike Chertoff and others kicked their vitriol into high gear. President Bush gave a very public, very pointed, very critical speech in Georgia. He essentially called opponents of the backroom “grand bargain” unpatriotic, xenophobic and racist.

Too little too late?

And last week our President, and other supporters of this shamnesty bill, attempted to openly bribe our Senate into passing this betrayal of the laws of our nation. Not only are they trying to bribe the Senate to ram this bill through, they have the audacity – shamelessness – to try to rush in front of the media to be the first to get the credit for it.

Mr. Reid also said he will be the one to add $4.4 billion in guaranteed border security funding to the bill — stealing the thunder from Republican senators and Mr. Bush, who endorsed the idea Thursday as a way of winning the support of those who say the government can’t be trusted to follow through on enforcement.

“When the bill returns to the Senate floor, I plan to add $4.4 billion in guaranteed funding — to be funded by the fees and penalties established by the bill’s new programs — to strengthen border security and speed other important elements of comprehensive reform,” Mr. Reid said.

Their pandering to the illegal population has reached new nauseating lows as they pull all of their tricks, and accusations of racism, out of their sleeves. But their actions merely underscore their desperation and I’m sure it is difficult for many in Washington to understand why their old tactics just aren’t working this time. Why is it that the American people aren’t buying their smoke and mirrors promises of securing our border and their capability to stop this invasion? Why won’t Americans just believe them, accept their bribe, and shut up?

In June, W declared that he will throw an extra $4.4 billion dollars at border security, if only the senate will reconsider S 1348.

This dilly begs the obvious question: If $4.4 billion will make America safer and is vital to homeland security, why has W not acted sooner?

Like on September 12, 2001 for instance?

I guess the old axiom, “Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me” would pretty much cover this but you have to wonder why these Senators are so hell bent on ignoring their constituents at the risk of destroying their own Party. Why? Their actions clearly have nothing to do with representing the desires of the American people. But, even though it looks as if they are trying to do what is best for the 12 million illegal aliens, it really has nothing to do with them either. What this really has to do with is power.

The siren song of POWER:

The alluring appeal of the siren song, leads one to make dangerous decisions.

Meanwhile, the issue continues to affect the 2008 presidential field.

Sen. John McCain, the Arizona Republican who has tied his campaign to the surge in Iraq and to passage of an immigration bill, has seen his primary position deteriorate. A new Mason-Dixon poll over the weekend found him slipping into single digits in South Carolina.

Mr. Graham, a close ally of Mr. McCain’s, said the Arizonan has at taken a hit in conservative South Carolina, but said he is taking the right stance on immigration if Republicans want to win elections.

“John is telling the Republican Party, in ‘08, if you want to win, you can’t win with 22 percent of the Hispanic vote,” he said.

Yes, listen to John all ye little lemmings, he has his finger on the pulse of America.

NOT!

Have Graham and other Republican Senators gone completely insane? McCain’s approval numbers are in the toilet, as are the President’s, Senate majority leader Harry Reid’s, Lindsey Graham’s, and every other supporter of this bill. To follow the advice of these traitors may help them win a higher percentage of the Hispanic vote but they will suffer the mythical fate of the lemming because they will NEVER win again if they lose 100 percent of their Republican base.

DEAD REPUBLICANS WALKING……………

18 06 2007

Cross posted from StikNstein…has no mercy

A few weeks ago Stik did a post titled FROM PERMANENT MAJORITY, TO THE END OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AS WE KNOW IT….IN 5 YEARS. It’s HERE

The title came from a commenter at Ace of Spades. The abandonment of the core values of his party by the President, and his Cabinet Appointees…..his Senate and Congressional Leadership….the Department of Commerce and his big business buddies….have been a gradual yet inexorable process over the last five …to 10 years. More at ACE HERE

Now…..with a master stroke of intimidation and bribery The Business lobby, The church lobby, and the Illegal Immigrant Special Interest Lobby are blackmailing and paying off Republican Senators to resurrect and vote into law a bill that by every measure is against the National interest and opposed by the majority of Americans.

Republicans falling in to support the Bill might just as well be placing the order for their last meal while they’re at it……

DEAD REPUBLICANS WALKING.jpg

The bribe of advanced funding that so many Republicans are using to justify their pro Amnesty votes is horrific and misleading. It’s also being funded by the cost of the z-visas, which means that money from the visas that could of gone to help offset the costs of health care, education, or crime from the illegal tsunami we’ve been swamped by.
Republicans have already agreed to vote to pass the bill (cloture) so long as they are allowed to stand up and posture by proposing amendments they know are meaningless or if voted on will fail.
22 ammendments will be proposed, 11 dem, 11 rep. Anyone who introduces an amendment has pledged to vote for cloture. Dorgan’s amendment is in. Hutchison is on board. pay to play, legislative style.

The President and the RNC along with a small cadre of Pro Amnesty big business bought and paid for Senators, have sailed over the cliff…….there is no turning back for them……

THEY ARE DEAD REPUBLICANS WALKING….

The question is how many other Republicans will follow them into the abyss.

Go to any Conservative Blog and read the comments to any post about the immigration Bill….. Open any newspaper and read letters to the editor…Go to any online mainstream media news site that allows reader interaction…national….local…it doesn’t matter…..look at the results of every poll that asks questions not rigged to get a desired result….ask any American that doesn’t have a vested interest in using illegal immigrants to make higher profits…..

And if you think Blogs don’t represent what American Republicans are thinking?….Look Again…..
Instapundit:around 5 million hits a month
Ace of Spades:Around 600,000 hits a month
Michelle Malkin :o ver 3 million hits a month
Hot Air :o ver 2 million hits a month
Plus thousands of smaller conservative blogs with loyal Republican readers……..

Americans….and Republicans see what’s going on….They know what Bush is trying to do. They know why this bill was crafted behind closed doors. An idiot can see it. The only way this bill could possibly succeed was to ram it through …when that didn’t work they tried to intimidate Republicans by impugning their motives calling them Racist Bigots who didn’t want what’s best for the country….when that didn’t work they are now trying to bribe and threaten the Senators who have opposed the bill…..
It is so grossly transparent, that in the eyes of The Republican base, they have gone too far….. and worse, they have gone there for the wrong reasons.

THE DYING REPUBLICANS
Below is the list of 15 GOP senators that the amnesty pushers want to flip to their side (asterisked senators are up for re-election in 2008)…..With apologies to The Princess Bride……They are only “MOSTLY DEAD” but, are even more vulnerable than the Republican Leadership. Whether they choose to support or oppose what the people who elected them consider a massive failure, will be revealed in the next few weeks.
WHEN THEY NEXT FACE AN OPPONENT WHO RUNS AN AD WITH PICTURES LIKE THE ONES BELOW, THEY MAY REGRET CHOOSING TO ABANDON THEIR BASE.

Bye bye, GOP.
I, for one, welcome our new Democrat overlords

They’re going to push the amnesty bill again, and this time they’ll vote for it. The keys? A scheme to spend a paltry $4.4 billion on border security — borrowed from the Treasury department, for some reason, rather than appropriated — supposed “first,” that is, immediately, and yet they’re plotting to pass amnesty before a nickel of this money is actually spent on improving border security. No fence, no computer system finally up and running to track immigrants, no biometric ID cards, no employment-eligibility system operational, no end to sanctuary cities — nothing. Just more promises.

COMMENTS FROM SOME OF THE CITIZENS WHO SUPPORTED AND ELECTED THEM:

“And yet they still get their amnesty before any enforcement measures take place, only this time they borrow money to allocate to the “triggers” that have already been mandated but largely ignored.
Of the $4.4 billion, I expect $1 billion in pork, $3 billion to facilitate amnesty, $399,999,980 for some toys and buildings, and $20 for the fence.
Again, it’s political blackmail- the message is that they won’t fund the mandated immigration enforcement measures unless they first get their amnesty.”

“Bye bye, GOP.
I, for one, welcome our new Democrat overlords..”

“They’re going to push the amnesty bill again, and this time they’ll vote for it. Just more promises.”

“How many times does it need to be said? Your promises count for nothing when you are merely promising to do what you already could be doing, but flatly refuse to do. The attitude continues to be John McCain’s “I’ll build the goddamned fence” only if forced to do so.”

“And the moment their precious amnesty passes — when we no longer have any leverage or bargaining power — they won’t be so forced to do that which is clearly anathema to them. 1986 all over again — except this time it’s worse, because it won’t be forgiven or forgotten.”

“Pot-banging tantrum-throwing Senator Lindsey Graham now says this bill isn’t about immigration at all, but about our very ability as a nation to pass piece of shit bills. I’m not sure I’m really sold on the importance of our ability to pass piece of shit bills, but for Lindsay Graham and the media, it’s a critical test of the American experiment in democracy.”

“There are guys in there like Coburn that could serve in perpetuity for all I care. What we really need to do is get everyone to stop donating to the RNC and to the House and Senate campaign committees. Send all of our donations directly to candidates who support the ideals that we support.”

“It is no longer possible to believe this group thinks it’s doing what is best for Conservative Americans. The only thing holding the remanants of the conservative base together is it’s belief that no matter how much damage the Bush years wreak on Conservatives, they are a sturdy bunch.”

“Let me ask a few rhetoricals: Do Democrats hate Bush? Have they supported anything he proposes? Would they relish punishing Bush (remember, this is the same group that invented Plamegate and “Bush lied us into war”)? Do they now have the majority they need to make a big, bold statement? Is not enforcing the nation’s laws an impeachable offense? Seems to me the Democrats have everything they need to try impeachment proceedings, yet they don’t. Why?
Because they have the biggest amnesty cheerleader on the planet in their corner and want to milk him for all he’s worth, knowing that it will change the fabric of this nation for a generation, perhaps generations. And the GOP is complying.
The GOP is dying before our eyes. We’ve been watching it get sick since shortly after the Contract with America was made, but it’s in its last throes now. Bush I weakened it, Bush II killed it, and the GOP Congresscritters are celebrating with a chalice of arsenic. Now that’s a legacy fit for a Kennedy. Bottoms up!”

Seems to me the Democrats have everything they need to try impeachment proceedings, yet they don’t. Why?
When your political enemies are committing suicide you do not interfere.

Betrayal IS an art form. I’m re-registering as an independent. If the majority of repub registered voters did that, the message would be loud and clear to the morons in congress. God I hate them. F_____g useless self-serving bastards all.

This is just like that feeling you get just before you know you’re going to hurl….the queasy stomach…the bile starting come up, the breaking out in a cold sweat…the heaving stomach….you desperately don’t want to be sick, but you know its going to happen anyway….amnesty! (Only with amnesty, you WON”T be feeling better afterwards.)

I figured when everyone was shooting their six-guns in the air last Thursday, celebrating the death of this piece of shit bill, that there was going to be some serious heart-ache this week. This amnesty is more “precious….my precious”….to Bush and the amnesty Senators than you or I can possibly imagine. There was simply no way that Big bid’ness was not going to see this amnesty get rammed through. As of today, Lindsey Grahmnesty put everyone on notice that its “not about immigration anymore.” It never was. It’s just beyond sad to see so many honest, straightforward, heartfelt Americans expressing themselves to their elected representatives, only to see it all fall on deaf ears – and not only that, but to be laughed at to their faces while the politicians pocket the REAL money from the only people whose opinions matter on this issue, and vote the other way.

I have had the feeling over the last few years that everything was working backwards and things just didnt feel right.
Up is down and all that. But this? This is blatant. After the uproar last week about amnesty, these people just told us all to f__k off.
They act like they didn’t get their office emails and fax lines flooded by those of us against this bill.
They literally do NOT give two shits what we say.
Where exactly do we go from here? This is totally like being smashed in the face with a 2×4. Only the 2×4 is the realization that they REALLY REALLY don’t represent us.
