I saw a news flash from Eagle Forum this morning which called for the citizens to act once again. Everyone that believes justice is not being served by the prosecution and imprisonment of our border guards should once again call their senators!
Senate Hearing Schedule

10 a.m.

    Judiciary
To hold hearings to examine the prosecution of Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean.
                                                      SD-226

I also saw a confirmation of my support of Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo in the same article at Eagle Forum. Duncan Hunter introduced HR 563 on January 18 and it has 100 co-sponsors, including Tancredo. This bill is called the: “Congressional Pardon For Border Patrol Agents Compean And Ramos Act.”

Concerned citizens have the opportunity to once again be heard. Please call your Senators today!

Your help is needed to save business of anti-illegal immigration

Dave Mooney of Blue Star Deli in Farmers Branch, Texas has been a strong supporter of legal immigration and has fought hard, along with others in Farmers Branch, to stop illegals. He’s paying a high price now and may lose his business. You can help. You can go visit his Blue Star Deli, or you can send him a check.

Here’s the story from Texas Fred:

Dave Mooney, owner of the Blue Star Deli in Farmers Branch, Texas, is feeling the backlash of his support of Farmers Branch. Dave has been in the forefront of support, opening up his cafe for all types of activities to support Farmers Branch and what that city has tried to do to stop the harm illegal immigration is doing.News has surfaced from Halliburton employees that a boycott has been called by the Hispanic and pro-illegal employees. Although, Dave didn’t have a contract for business lunches, he did receive orders to provide business lunches from time to time. These orders have now stopped. Also, it is being reported that Hispanic radio stations are broadcasting a boycott of the Blue Star.

Dave is experiencing a 50% decrease in sales receipts due to this boycott and has now taken a second job. The call is out for all of us do what we can to help Dave. If you are in the area, stop by and have one of Dave’s good hamburgers, tell others about the Blue Star Deli.

Call KSKY radio’s Mike Gallagher, KLIF’s Jeff Bolton and John David Wells, all who have had broadcasts at the Blue Star Deli, to ask their listening audience to support Dave. Let’s all do what we can to keep Dave in business.

U.S Border Watch will be sending a check to Mr Mooney, and we encourage everyone else to send him a few bucks. Five or ten dollars in a restaurant business is a lot of money. We must help those who have put their business on the line to help our cause. Below is the address and web site for the Blue Star Deli, and if you are in the area drop in and thank this fine Patriot for his support and have a burger.

Mexico dissolving as a Nation-State?

With the United States making few, if any, efforts to control our borders; and with the rise of the North American Union, the suggestion that Mexico may dissolve as a Nation-State by 2008 is very interesting.  From The OIl Drum via email today:

Jeff Vail, our former Navy Intelligence officer and geopolitics expert, wrote about his concern for Mexico in “Mexico: A Nation-State Dissolves?“:

In my annual new years predictions , I said that the most significant, and surprising, development of 2007 would be the collapse of both Mexico’s economy and its very existence as a viable Nation-State. While there hasn’t been a spectacular, single event confirming my prediction, there has been a steady erosion on all fronts—with five months left in the year, I’m not yet willing to push back my prediction of Mexico’s “collapse” to 2008. The decline of the Mexican Nation-State is a bellwether for the massively complex network of geopolitical influences sometimes termed above ground factors. It provides some insight into how symptoms of oil scarcity already being felt in poorer parts of the world will increasingly spill over into our own back yard…

http://www.theoildrum.com/node/2752

The question becomes, what does this mean for the United States?  I’ll leave that to you readers.

Mr. Vail goes on to define exactly what he means by the collapse of a Nation-State:

… When a Nation-State collapses, the cities don’t all catch on fire simultaneously whilst roving hoards pillage the countryside and the population starves. Nation-State collapse is not the apocalypse—it is exactly what it suggests to be: the collapse of the notional union of Nation and State under one central, viable government.  {snip]

Mexico’s Oil Production is Collapsing

Production from Mexico’s Cantarell field is collapsing, and production from new fields are not making up the difference.  It appears very likely that Mexico has permanently passed its peak oil production.  On top of that, domestic consumption is rising, creating the classic Export Land effect: declining production and rising domestic consumption equal accelerated declines in exports. Taxes from these export revenues generate the largest share of revenue for the federal government. Recent reductions in the tax rate that the government applies to PEMEX, the state oil company, shows that this key source of revenue is failing. The collapse of Mexican oil production has been extensively discussed elsewhere—here it is only my aim to highlight this as a component in the collapse of the Mexican Nation-State, and the positive feedback loops between the two events.

Mexico’s National and State Boundaries are Separating

The core proposition of a Nation-State is that the boundaries of the Nation and the State will coincide, allowing the State to effectively provide for the security and welfare of the Nation, and leading in return to the Nation giving their allegiance to the State (See Philip Bobbitt’s “Shield of Achilles,” the seminal work on the Nation-State construct). While no Nation-State is a perfect example of this ideal, Mexico’s proximity to enticing US labor markets, and the resulting massive emigration of Mexicans, is increasingly distorting this overlap. While “Mexico” remains a powerful cultural concept, that concept is increasingly dissociated with the geographic borders of the Mexican state. People can be wholly “Mexican” in Los Angeles, or, increasingly, Alabama.

The State of Mexico is Failing to Provide for its Nation

While the dissociation of the boundaries of a Nation with the borders of a State makes it more difficult for a notional Nation-State to provide for that part of its Nation outside its State borders, Mexico is also failing to provide for its nationals inside its borders. Recent protests over tortilla prices are just one example of the extreme poverty suffered by much of the nation (and, not entirely coincidentally, largely the result of scarcity in global oil markets driving demand for corn-ethanol). Similarly, while the average Mexican’s wealth is increasing, there are shadow factors at work—people like the Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, now the richest man in the world at $68 Billion net worth, are skewing the statistics.  Without remittance payments from emigrants, Mexico’s poverty situation would be far worse. When a State can no longer provide for its Nation, there is no longer any incentive for that Nation to voluntarily give allegiance and support to their State. The only remaining tool to exert control is coercion through a State’s theoretical monopoly on violence, and in Mexico even that is breaking down.

I’ve included more of this excellent article here than proper blog etiquette allows, so please go to The Oil Drum and read the rest of the article.  Also check out the other excellent articles on their main page.

Other Oil News at The Oil Drum:

Jeffrey Brown, a petroleum geologist, discusses “Net Oil Exports and the ‘Iron Triangle’”

As Matt Simmons pointed out several years ago, the critical problem with post-peak exporting regions is that we would have two exponential functions (declining production and generally increasing consumption) working against net exports. From the point of view of importers, it is quite likely that we are facing a crash in oil supplies. In my opinion, what I have described as the “Iron Triangle” is doing everything possible to keep this message from reaching consumers.

In an essay posted on The Oil Drum blog in January 2006, I warned of an impending net oil export crisis, and I used what I called the Export Land Model (ELM) to illustrate the detrimental effect on net oil exports of declining production and increasing consumption.

Jerome Guillet discusses that the IEA boss denied and confirmed peak oil in same breath

It seems that the International Energy Agency, the intergovernmental energy watchdog, has been going in overdrive lately. First, we had the interview of its chief economist warning us that we were going toward a wall without Iraqi oil, then the recent publication of their yearly outlook report predicting shortages within 5 years, and now we have another disquieting interview in Le Monde, the big French daily, with Claude Mandil, the head of the Agency, who pulls no punches, despite an apparent denial of “peak oil”. Follow me below the fold for a translation.

Department of Homeland Surrender is utterly inept and incompetent

14 07 2007

BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086544111996961762

Hi Gang:

For the past several days Michael Chertoff, the current Secretary of Homeland Security has been appearing on various news programs conceding his concerns that Al Qaeda operatives are either attempting to enter the United States or have already done so in preparation for a major attack against the United States. He claims this is only a “hunch.”

BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5086543433392128978

I think that Mr. Chertoff is hedging his bets, being able to say “I warned you” if we are, in fact, attacked. Once again the name of the game seems to be “protecting his backside” while our country is left vulnerable to the specter of a terrorist attack. The article I have attached below was just posted by CNN in conjunction with the Associated Press. As you read the article, notice the reference to the extremely dangerous Visa Waiver Program that just a couple of weeks ago, former Secretary of Homeland Security, Tom Ridge said should be expanded to include an additional ten countries.

Our nation’s borders have not been secured even after the attacks of September 11, 2001, nearly 6 years ago. What is very important to bear in mind is the fact that the issue of border should not be limited to the physical borders of the United States but should be considered by understanding that immigration is a system and that the borders are but one component of that system. As I have often noted, it is estimated that perhaps as much as 40% of the illegal aliens in the United States did not run our nation’s borders but rather entered the United States through ports of entry. Additionally, sleeper agents, that is to say, aliens who enter our nation with the goal of embedding themselves in our country in communities around our nation, hiding in plain sight, waiting for a message that informs them how, where and when they are to carry out a terrorist attack inside our nation, may well have secured lawful immigration status that would enable them to not only enter our country, but to move easily among us. They would be able to easily board airliners, enter secure government and corporate buildings and travel easily across our nation’s borders.

Such “legal” aliens would be able to secure employment that might facilitate their nefarious objectives without fear that immigration authorities might arrest them or otherwise interfere with them. This is why I was so adamantly opposed to the “Comprehensive Immigration Reform” bill that was pushed so strenuously by Senators Kennedy, McCain, Reid and others including President Bush. That bill, would have undoubtedly resulted in terrorists securing official status and official identity documents in false identities.

It is important to remember how many times the President and his administration have refused to hire as many special agents for ICE and Border Patrol agents as were authorized by Congress. It is also important to think back to those politicians who stood before the myriad microphones and cameras in the days and weeks after the attacks of September 11, 2001 demanding to know why no one “connected the dots.” I myself have testified before more than a dozen Congressional hearings since the attacks of September 11, 2001. I am one of many experts who have furnished extensive testimony from a perspective of experience concerning the many vulnerabilities that still imperil our nation and our citizens. The 9/11 Commission has laid out a veritable blueprint, describing the ways that our country was vulnerable to the attacks of 9/11, consequently illustrating areas of vulnerability that still very much need to be addressed.

Perhaps Mr. Chertoff thinks that by making his very disturbing and public statements about his “hunch” will “inoculate” him if our nation is once again attacked and thousands of innocent people are slaughtered. His track record as an administration “bobble head” who failed to stand up for secure borders and the creation of an immigration system that possesses meaningful integrity will stand as evidence of his complicity in the failings of our government to protect us and our nation. So too will the voting record of every member of the Senate and the House of Representatives offer incontrovertible evidence of the failings of the politicians to secure our nation and protect our people. This time the dots will have been connected.

Consider this: after the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941 the United States, not yet a “super power” nevertheless, mobilized and showed real determination and the indomitable “can do” spirit that had been the hallmark of American ingenuity. Within mere months hundreds of airplanes and fleets of a variety of ships and other military devices were designed and rushed into production. Nuclear weapons were designed and then built with unproven technology. In under 4 years World War II was brought to a highly successful conclusion in large measure because of the incredible efforts of the “Greatest Generation.”

Today the United States is considered a “Super Power” yet little is manufactured within our borders. Those borders are little more than speed bumps to illegal aliens including drug dealers, violent gang members and terrorists. Narcotics easily enter our country and the proceeds from those illegal drugs fund criminal gangs and terrorist organizations. USCIS, the division of DHS the agency I have come to refer to as the Department of Homeland Surrender is utterly inept and incompetent at creating a system that uncovers and prosecutes those who commit fraud against our government, consequently the number of applications laden with fraud continues to escalate thereby increasing the total number of applications further eroding any efforts to combat fraud, further increasing the number of applications in a vicious cycle that rewards criminals who a able to game the system. Our government has proven itself so inept and incompetent that our nation has not been able to even produce enough passports to enable the implementation of WHTI, the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative that would require United States citizens who are returning to the United States from within the Western Hemisphere, including from Canada and from Mexico, to provide passports to the inspectors at ports of entry to help prevent terrorists from entering our country.

Sixty years ago our nation built the first atomic bombs under the extreme pressure of World War II. In 1969 the United States landed the first astronauts on the moon and returned them safely to the earth, a feat that has yet to be duplicated by any other nation. Yet today, “Super Power” United States cannot even produce an adequate number of passports to help prevent the entry of terrorists into the United States. Today we still lack the resolve to terminate the Visa Waiver Program that enables aliens from 27 countries including countries that are known to have a significant problem with terrorists living within their borders such as Great Britain, Spain and Germany because the executives of the travel, hospitality and tourism industries have exerted extreme pressure on politicians through their high-powered lobbyists including, apparently, former Secretary of DHS Tom Ridge.

Our nation and our citizens may pay one hell of a price for “cheap labor” and corporate profits that are obviously behind the immigration crisis confronting our nation today!

If, God forbid, there is a terrorist attack committed by foreign operatives of Al Qaeda inside our country, the questions that will and must be answered will include how they managed to enter the United States, how they embedded themselves in our country as they prepared for the attack.

“We the People” must make it clear to the politicians on Capitol Hill who have not acted to secure our borders and create a secure immigration system, irrespective of political party. This is about accountability and the “Fools in the Hill” as I refer to those politicians who have not acted in our best interest will be held accountable if there is, in fact, a terrorist attack.

Democracy is not a spectator sport!

Lead, follow or get out of the way!
Mike Cutler
