Here’s the facts from Blogs for Bush and BlogoWogo:
That is what a recent Rasmussen Survey indicates:
Fifty-eight percent (58%) of voters nationwide favor cutting off federal funds for sanctuary cities that offer protection to illegal immigrants. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that just 29% are opposed. Republican Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney proposed such a plan earlier this week. By a 71% to 16% margin, voters also favor a proposal that would require all foreign visitors to carry a universal identification card as proposed by another GOP Presidential hopeful, Rudy Giuliani. Seventy-four percent (74%) also favor the creation and funding of a central database to track all foreign visitors in the United States.
By a 56% to 31% margin, voters want the government to continue building a fence along the Mexican border.
This is the Republican’s winning issue, if they want it
From Islamanazi
“The U.S. Constitution does not have a provision for immigration sanctuary, and there is no legal precedent for it in the history of the United States of America. When U.S. cities and even entire states declare themselves to be “sanctuaries” for illegal aliens, they act outside the law, and by their actions could be charged with a felony for each violation of federal law by “concealing, harboring, or sheltering illegal aliens” (8 U.S. Code, sections 1324 and 1325; Immigration and Naturalization Act sections 274 and 275).
Illegal entry into the United States — entry without inspection — is a misdemeanor, INA section 275, (8 USC Section 1324). Repeated illegal entry is a felony. (read more)
Mitt Romney on Friday criticized cities that fail to crackdown on illegal immigrants:
“(Homeland Security) Secretary (Michael) Chertoff is going to say ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to enforce the current law.’ Isn’t that novel? We’re going to enforce the current law. Isn’t that good news?” Romney said.
Elvira Arellano has finally been deported, one step toward enforcing laws already on the books:
Elvira Arellano had her kid here so he is a citizen under the misinterpreted 14th Amendment. The activist groups are all over this story and they are all indicating that this woman should not have been arrested for breaking the law and that it was not right for the government to separate her from her kid.The government did not separate them, she could have taken her kid with her but she is a poor example for motherhood and abandoned her kid.
Common Sense America makes this excellent observation:
If you think this is the end of the story – think again. What kind of mother would leave her child behind in a country that just deported her? Only one that plans on being back with him shortly.

Activists in the Chicago area who have followed Arellano’s story weren’t surprised that the law caught up to her.
YAAAYYYYY!!! It’s About TIME!
Border Pundit, “Border violence fueled by drug war in Mexico“
So much death and destruction and sorrow. And still they keep coming, killing our kids and our cops and each other. Build the wall. Build it high and build it now. Start throwing employers in prison for hiring illegals. And make sure illegals cannot receive a single penny’s worth of public benefits. They need to go home and stay home…in their own country!
Illinois View and USAToday:
Sen. John McCain said Sunday that his support for immigration changes hurt his presidential candidacy because people were not convinced that it would secure the border.
Well well. I guess the message is finally getting through.
