Many people incorrectly translate our name, “La Raza,” as “the race.” While it is true that one meaning of “raza” in Spanish is indeed “race,” in Spanish, as in English and any other language, words can and do have multiple meanings. As noted in several online dictionaries, “La Raza” means “the people” or “the community.” Translating our name as “the race” is not only inaccurate, it is factually incorrect. “Hispanic” is an ethnicity, not a race. As anyone who has ever met a Dominican American, Mexican American, or Spanish American can attest, Hispanics can be and are members of any and all races.
The term “La Raza” has its origins in early 20th century Latin American literature and translates into English most closely as “the people,” or, according to some scholars, “the Hispanic people of the New World.” The term was coined by Mexican scholar José Vasconcelos to reflect the fact that the people of Latin America are a mixture of many of the world’s races, cultures, and religions. I live in what some may consider to be “Ground Zero,” as far as illegal immigration is concerned: Los Angeles. Entire neighborhoods here have collapsed under the strain of the illegal alien and their offspring. I enjoy letting apparent illegal aliens know that I know what they’re up to, by telling them (in their own language, no less): “No Amnestia – Nunca” (“No Amnesty – Never!”).
I suspect that those behind NAFTA (the North American Free Trade Agreement) and SPP (the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America) are the governing factors behind the invasion, the undeclared war of Mexico against the United States (and Canada). Those organizations support a Union of the Americas as well as one country formed by the U.S., Canada and Mexico; one nation without borders. NAFTA and SPP have undermined America; 12 million illegal immigrants who may never face mass deportation have created the nucleus for this apparent New (Western) World Order.
The Constitution of the United States of America is one of our best weapons against groups such as NAFTA, SPP, the ACLU and La Raza. Write letters and call your Congressional Representatives often.
