Immigration, the issue that wasn’t

It’s been over a week now since the elections and most of us have have recovered. Personally I was very discouraged at the direction I see immigration headed, with President George W. Bush and the Democrats actually on the same side — the side of amnesty. But I’m catching my second wind and ready to continue the fight for what is right for our country, SECURE BORDERS.

With ‘Fancy Nancy’ as head Lib, what does her voting record look like on the criminal invaders?

Voted NO on preventing tipping off Mexicans about Minuteman Project. (Jun 2006)Voted NO on reporting illegal aliens who receive hospital treatment. (May 2004)

Voted YES on extending Immigrant Residency rules. (May 2001)

Voted YES on more immigrant visas for skilled workers. (Sep 1998)

Rated 0% by FAIR, indicating a voting record loosening immigration. (Dec 2003)

Voted NO on military border patrols to battle drugs & terrorism. (Sep 2001)

Rated 8% by the Christian Coalition: an anti-family voting record. (Dec 2003)

A few non-immigration statistics:

Voted NO on limiting attorney’s fees in class action lawsuits. (Feb 2005)Voted NO on restricting frivolous lawsuits. (Sep 2004)

Voted NO on prohibiting product misuse lawsuits on gun manufacturers. (Oct 2005)

# Voted NO on prohibiting suing gunmakers & sellers for gun misuse. (Apr 2003)

Rated F by the NRA, indicating a pro-gun control voting record. (Dec 2003)

Voted NO on small business associations for buying health insurance. (Jun 2003)

Voted NO on Prescription drug coverage under Medicare. (Jun 2000)

Voted NO on federalizing rules for driver licenses to hinder terrorists. (Feb 2005)

The above statistics compliments of a blog called “it’s been fun, but i really have to scream now…“, where you can read much, much more. Go visit them.

The truth is the Republicans can’t agree on anything and that is why we lost the elections. We couldn’t even pass legislation when we were the majority because we couldn’t agree. So we’ve made our bed and here we are. Right Wing Nation says:

Two years ago, I said immigration would destroy the party — and here we are. When Polipundit threw his little fit and threw his cobloggers off because they wouldn’t toe his party line about immigration, I said it would kill us — and here we are. And we’re talking moonbats, every bit as out of touch with reality and blind to anything but their own little false ideas as the Kos Kidz.

Well, I wouldn’t go that far, but we all thought immigration would be a determining factor in the elections, a ‘wedge’ issue. A wedge too far?

The A-word–amnesty–was a staple. So were calls for cracking down on the border. And there could be no mistaking the mood, or rather the two parties’ shared assumption about the public’s mood. The only question was whether Republicans would succeed in riding that anger to victory on Election Day–whether immigration would indeed be the wedge issue of the 2006 midterms.Immigration was the dog that didn’t bark. It did not prove an effective wedge issue. And as far as could be determined, it decided few if any contests. source Weekly Standard

No, that dog didn’t bark, but we need to make it bark. Poke that dog with a big stick until it howls so loud proper legislation will have to be passed to shut it up. What say you? Get back in the saddle and start contacting your politicians … again.

A special thanks to stickNstein for keeping the articles coming while some of the rest of us licked our wounds after the election results and talks of amnesty. Thanks stickNstein!!!
