Moving forward in 2007

Cross posted From Take Back Georgia

Happy 2007!!!

Hope everyone ate his or her cornbread, black-eyed peas and greens!! For those who are not familiar with this Southern tradition, the greens symbolize prosperity, black-eyed peas represents good health, and the cornbread…well – it is just plain, good eatin’!

Anyway, after my little break from the news, (and life in general), I am ready to get back to work. 2007 needs to be a productive year and one way of making that happen, of course, is to set a few goals:

1) We write, we call, we shout from the rooftops, but it feels like we never follow-up to see if our efforts make any difference. There is a lot of unfinished business out there, so this year TBG is focusing on results. The Take Back Georgia Yahoo group has created a new table that tracks our issues, failures and most importantly – successes.

2) We would like to tackle other issues in addition to illegal immigration: The FairTax movement, terrorism, Georgia’s failing public school system, crime and law enforcement, and helping build a brighter future for Georgia’s children.

3) Last, but not least – growth. We need concerned citizen’s of Georgia to join us, get involved, bounce ideas off of one another, and really do something positive – not only for Georgia, but for America as well. If we all work together, who knows where this group will take us!

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtfully committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has. – Margaret Mead

Now let’s get to work!

MCDC now has a chapter in Georgia…

Even if you don’t join the group, I think it would be nice to send an e-mail of encouragement and let them know that we are proud of these patriots for speaking up and ACTing out!

SHOCKING!! Cherokee County may delay enforcement of landlord ordinance

The Cherokee County ordinance would require landlords to collect information about renters’ immigration status. Landlords would have to provide that information to the county on demand.

People – if Georgia commissioners are going to create new ordinances to curb illegal immigration, they had better have the details figured out beforehand. Frankly, i’m disappointed. I really thought Cherokee County had all their ducks in a row. They already knew there were lawsuits in other states – why is the commission getting cold feet now?

Let’s ask the Cherokee County Commissioners why they aren’t following through…

I am pleased; however, that the English language ordinance in Cherokee Co., GA passed… hopefully they won’t chicken out on this resolution too.

[Illegal] Immigrants’ Jobs Vanish With Housing Slowdown

“There’s no work here anymore,” he said, having spent the past month unemployed. “And when there’s no work, it’s time for Latinos to go back to the countries where they came from.”

What? Where’s all the assimilation talk? Illegal immigrants just want to be American, right? WRONG. There’s no loyalty to this country. Most get what they want from America and send it right back home to Mexico. Period.

Gang Graffiti

Man accused in girlfriend’s death

…Guadalupe Vega Cisneros, 41, is believed to have used a handgun to shoot 41-year-old Nidia Arias-Acuna in her Norcross home Saturday morning…
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous and is believed to be driving a white 2003 Ford F-150 with Georgia plates. Moloney said the suspect has no arrest record in Gwinnett and might be headed south toward Mexico.

Anyone with information about the suspect’s whereabouts is asked to call Gwinnett 911.

Hmmm…Mystery shot? Gwinnett County? My guess it is gang related. I was in Gwinnett over the weekend and it looks like the 18th street gang has claimed much of the Doraville/Norcross area.
