Guess there isn’t a need for all of those AgJobs

According to this – Citrus freeze leaves thousands jobless there isn’t a need to push through the AgJobs bill in the Senate for at least 2 years. (S237) According to what I heard the trees are damaged and it will be a couple years for recovery.

The deep freeze that has destroyed some $1 billion worth of California citrus could also mean months of unemployment for thousands of farmworkers, packers and truck drivers during what is already a lean season for those who work in agriculture, industry officials say.

Notice this story says what is already a lean season. Hmm, that’s not what we keep hearing from the pro-guest worker proponents.

The US doesn’t need a guest worker program. It needs to fix it’s immigration system and policies along with enforcing immigration laws.

As it is I suppose we the taxpayers will now pay for California citrus growers and pay for the higher costs of citrus at the market.  I wonder what all of those illegal alien farm workers will do now?  Go back to Mexico or Central America?  I doubt it, they’ll go on taxpayer assistance (if they aren’t on it already) so we’ll pay there again.

Think this will make a difference with the Senate?  Nope, I don’t either.
