1967Pedro fails high school
English. Pedro goes to summer school, passes English, goes to college.

2007Pedro’s cause is taken up
by state Democratic party. Newspaper articles appear nationally explaining that
teaching English as a requirement for graduation is racist. ACLU files class
action lawsuit against state school system and Pedro’s English teacher. English
banned from core curriculum. Pedro given diploma anyway, but ends up mowing
lawns for a living because he can’t speak English.

Juan-Silva

GAINESVILLE – Hall County deputies are looking for a Gainesville man they say
shot his girlfriend during an argument Monday night.

Silva is considered armed and dangerous and is wanted for aggravate assault.
Anyone with information on Juan Silva’s whereabouts is urged to contact the Hall
County Sheriff’s Office at 770-531-6879 or call 911.

Police searching for Lilburn drive-by shooting suspects

Police are investigating a Wednesday night drive-by shooting that they suspect might be gang-related.

Officer fired for taking cash after man’s arrest

A Commerce police officer, who was fired recently, was dismissed after admitting he stole $300 from an illegal immigrant from Gainesville to pay for a divorce lawyer.

Commerce police did not call federal immigration authorities about Gomez’s immigration status, Gaissert said.

Barrow man gets 5 years in cocaine case

Authorities say they found 14 kilograms of cocaine on a boat he had rented and four illegal immigrants who paid $6,000 each to come to America. Krist pleaded guilty to the drug charge and to bringing in and harboring aliens.

…they found an underground cocaine laboratory…In 1968, Krist and a woman kidnapped an Emory University student and buried her alive in a capsule for 83 hours. She was found alive by investigators after her father paid a $500,000 ransom.

Investigators say the arrested Alberto Santos of Norcross for pimping and Elena Orosco of Gainesville for prostitution.

Grand jury indicts six on drug charges

Garcia and Barrera are accused of having 28 grams or more of a mixture containing methamphetamine and possessing the drug Meperidine with the intent to distribute.
Garcia also allegedly tampered evidence by putting cocaine in her mouth in an attempt to destroy it.
In another case, Abderrazak Merchoud and Kimberly Ashley Cardell are charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of cocaine, witth Merchoud also charged with trafficking in ecstasy.
According to the indictment, Merchoud had more than 200 grams of a mixture containing a schedule I controlled substance at the time of his arrest on June 23.
