Linda Chavez Uses Amnesty Advocate’s Dishonest Tactics

Linda Chavez recently employed tactics typical of the Amnesty lobby. In her piece titled “Latino Fear and Loathing“, she utilizes the race and xenophobe cards, lies about opponents of illegal immigration and distorts facts about the disparaging effects illegal immigration has on our country. She also trivializes the rule of law, American sovereignty and inappropriately tugs at our emotional strings to further her amnesty agenda. The Race and Xenophobe Card…

“Some people just don’t like Mexicans — or anyone else from south of the border. They think Latinos are freeloaders and welfare cheats who are too lazy to learn English. They think Latinos have too many babies, and that Latino kids will dumb down our schools. They think Latinos are dirty, diseased, indolent and more prone to criminal behavior. They think Latinos are just too different from us ever to become real Americans.”

“What is said today of the Mexicans, Guatemalans, Salvadorans and others was once said of Germans, Swedes, the Irish, Italians, Poles, Jews and others. The only difference is that in the past, the xenophobes could speak freely, unconstrained by a veneer of political correctness.”

Only a dishonest, racist, anarchy loving, agenda pushing, propagandist could write such drivel and maintain such a perspective.

The use of the xenophobe and race card are inappropriate in the context of illegal immigration. The issue is homeland security, U.S. sovereignty and the rule of law.

It matters not who breaks our immigration laws, what country they come from, what they look like or what language they speak. The only thing that matters is stopping illegal immigration regardless of who is immigrating illegally. It is not, nor has it ever been, a race issue. Only racists inject race into a non-racial issue. The use of the race card is old, inappropriate and transparent.

We call things racism just to get attention. We reduce complicated problems to racism, not because it is racism, but because it works.
– Alfredo Gutierrez, political consultant, as quoted by Richard de Uriarte, The Phoenix Gazette, March 14, 1992 (quoted in The ProEnglish Advocate, 1st quarter, 2002)

In spite of the fact that the United States already has the most liberal and generous immigration policies in the world, she labels anti amnesty advocates as xenophobes. In her mind, she cannot differentiate legal immigration from illegal immigration. This is a symptom common among all open borders advocates. Another example of this is her comparison of illegal South American immigrants to the legal European immigrants of yesteryear.

The Lies and Distortions…

“No amount of hard, empirical evidence to the contrary, and no amount of reasoned argument or appeals to decency and fairness, will convince this small group of Americans — fewer than 10 percent of the general population, at most — otherwise.”

“Stripped bare, this is what the current debate on immigration reform is all about. Fear of “the other” — of those who look or sound different, who come from poor countries with unfamiliar customs –”

“But we need to quit pretending that the “No Amnesty” crowd is anything other than what it is: a tiny group of angry, frightened and prejudiced loudmouths backed by political opportunists who exploit them.”

“Today, they speak more cautiously, so they talk about the rule of law, national security, amnesty, whatever else they think might make their arguments less racially charged.”

Her lies and distortions are easily refuted as well. Chavez claims that the anti amnesty constituency represents only 10% of the general population. The polling data clearly proves Chavez wrong. The majority of polls show that Americans are against amnesty by a very wide margin. In most instances by a two to one margin. What does she base her 10% claim on? Perhaps she is referring to ten percent of the Mexican general population.

There is no sound empirical evidence that illegal immigration is good for the country. Yet she implies that such data exists and is being ignored by anti amnesty lobby. Yet she ignores studies done by the likes of the Heritage Foundation that maintain amnesty will cost the American taxpayer 2.4 trillion dollars. She ignores the study on income disparity recently completed by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR) which among other facts finds…

“Since mass immigration was unleashed by the 1965 immigration law, increases in average inflation-adjusted family income have steadily shrunk and are approaching no growth, or — if the trend continues — negative growth.”

She ignores that our schools are over crowed, health care is strained and not affordable and that American jobs are being taken and wages depressed by people that don’t belong in the country.

She trivializes the foundation of our country, the rule of law. Stating that it is merely a tactic used by the anti amnesty lobby. She forgets without the rule of law, only some people need to obey the law while others are above it. She doesn’t realize or care that her amnesty agenda violates the rule of law and will lead to anarchy and the destruction of our country.

As the pro amnesty agenda pushers realize there is no supporting evidence for their baseless and flawed positions, expect more lies, distortions and use of the race and xenophobe cards. It’s all they have in this fight. They will use these techniques until amnesty is finally defeated, the middle class saved and the rule of law is preserved.

It’s up to us to recognize and neutralize the dishonest tactics used by the mainstream media and amnesty advocates. Informed Americans need to see through the fog deliberately created by the open borders anarchists. It’s up to us to put this stupid amnesty legislation out of it’s misery.

Today is Memorial Day. It’s only fitting that we remember why 1.2 million American men and women died. They gave their lives because they believed in the rule of law, American sovereignty, our Constitution and American culture. They didn’t die to have our borders, Constitution and culture violated by people of foreign lands with our political leaders stamp of approval.
