Cross posted from J R Foley…No Amnesty…Got it?
We defeated the Bush-Kennedy bill once again. It is too soon to say it is dead because all it takes is another back room deal as we have seen in the last two occasions.
What do we need to do?
Shmooze the legislators that voted our way, even if they were slippery bas…hmmm illegitimate children on the first vote.
Start bombarding all our legislators for a resolution to force Bush to uphold border security using the laws currently available. We need an effort of the same magnitude as the one put forth to defeat the cloture vote, this time to demand that Bush act NOW or that he be impeached. I believe that this is the only cudgel left that will move Bush in the direction we want him to go. Just having the stain of impeachment hearings as his legacy may be all that is needed to get him moving.
Here is my note to my Democrat Senator, Debbie Stabenow, on her web contact form. She voted with us on both cloture votes. Remember, this is a non-partisan issue.
Now that we have defeated the Bush-Kennedy amnesty temporarily…
We need to bring our energies to bear on achieving national security through border security. S.1639 would not have done the job and we still need to address this issue.
I believe that Bush is commiting an impeachable offense by leaving our ports and borders open while he already has the tools in hand to do the job. Waiting until 2008 to rectify the situation with a new president is unsatisfactory because it gives the terrorists over a year to build and reinforce terror cells in the USA unimpeded.
Look at what is happening in Great Britain right NOW.
If Bush can not find it within himself to enforce the laws of the land, we need to demand his resignation or start impeachment hearings.
Please take the initiative to introduce a resolution demanding that Bush enforce border security using the laws already available to him.
Thank you for your strong stand for US workers in your votes to defeat S.1639.
I wish we could have inspired Carl Levin to do likewise.
I sent this to my Democrat senator because we need to keep allies wherever we find them, and obviously not all Republicans are allies. Bush, McCain, Hagel, Specter, Lott, and others are not allies in the anti-illegals effort. I have voted Republican but this year have asked for a refund of donations sent to the Republican Party because I will not generically support the amnesty panderers. I would hope that all patriotic citizens of whatever party will also make this same demand of their party until we achieve true border security first and then enforcement of our immigration laws.
