Michael Johns Says Sealing America’s Border with Mexico Requires Urgency

Cross posted From Michael Johns

Conservative leader and writer Michael Johns, a former White House speechwriter and Heritage Foundation foreign policy analyst, said last night that the United States needs to act with great urgency to secure its southern border with Mexico if it hopes to protect the nation’s security interests and begin reversing the many economic and other crises spurred by the nation’s apparent unwillingness to enforce federal immigration laws by fully securing its southern border.

Replays of Johns’ interview with the Grizzly Groundswell Network on Blog Talk Radio are available globally for replay from the 61.30 to 120 minute mark of the network’s June 30, 2008 show, available at:

In the interview, Johns challenges the conventional wisdom that Mexico’s illegal aliens in the U.S. are only filling jobs that Americans do not want, stating that nearly half of them–10.5 million of the 21.6 million illegal Mexicans in this nation–are illegally filling skilled jobs that almost certainly would be appealing to Americans at a time when unemployment is standing at 5.5 percent nationally. Johns stated further that the failure of the U.S. to seal its southern border from illegals represents one of the greatest ongoing security threats to the nation at a time when the U.S. continues to be embroiled in a global conflict against al-Qaeda and Islamic extremism.

Johns stated that the 21.6 million illegal Mexican aliens in the U.S. are ill-serving the U.S. economy, costing the nation approximately $397 billion annually in education, health care and other social services. Meanwhile, Johns says, Mexican illegals are returning large sums of their earnings–approximately $33 billion annually to Mexico and $283 billion annually to all of Latin America. He also said that the U.S. has spent approximately $1.5 billion since 2001 in costs associated with the incarceration of approximately 370,000 illegal aliens in the U.S.

As President of Phoenix’s Coalition for a Conservative Majority (CCM), Johns and his organization are actively supporting two Arizona ballot initiatives that would strengthen the state’s illegal immigration enforcement capabilities by empowering Arizona’s law enforcement officials to enforce federal immigration laws and make the state’s criminal trespass statutes applicable to illegal aliens in the state. The deadline for the submission of signatures for these two ballot initiatives is this Thursday, July 3, 2008.

Jim,

The illegal alien problem runs much deeper than most people realize and one of the problems is something we U S Citizens have a hard time admitting to ourselves.

And that one problem is that for most of my 62 years it has been drilled into our heads the only way to get a good job is to get a good education…..and now darned few U S Citizens want to sweat for a living no matter how much they are paid.

Now people can blame the media, but it isn’t any major part of the media dangling the job carrots that attracts illegal aliens to this nation. Nor is it the media that furnishes them rent housing or selling them property to live in. Nor is it the media that sells illegal aliens their boom box filled pickups and mini vans that get them to and from their cheap assed employers jobs. The media does not demad our tax payer funded government agencies like hospitals, food stamp agencies, and state ran Medicaid agencies to the effect that they must facilitate illegal aliens by catering free services to illegal aliens that are meant for U S Citizens only.

All these problems that are allowed to go on in the illegal alien issue lies within the elector voters and the people they elect that do nothing and the part of the private sector that make profits off illegal aliens by exploiting them.

We the people simply need ALL new elected officials from the White House, to the State Houses, to the friggin Out Houses we call our City Halls that are legally bound and accountable to us Citizens by contract and by Citizen demand responsible in ensuring that our laws, all of them, are upheld and enforced. Blame, all of it, starts right here at the grass roots with ourselves. Because even after we elect the bums and can’t fire them, we still don’t vote out these corrupt unresponsive elected official bums that do nothing about the illegal alien mess even after they are discovered.

So functionally all the blame for illegal aliens is in our laps because we don’t do anything we CAN do ourselves ie vote the bums we elect out. Does anybody think that I, a party of one, as much to blame as anyone else, likes admitting these facts to myself? And I sure as hell can’t solve or resolve the problem alone for voting the bums out.

Can anyone argue against any of my statements?

Those who don’t like the idea of having well over 30 million illegals in this country fail to realize that the answer is closer than they think. If the US public were to simply eat more meals at home they would cause millions of these artful smugglers to go back to banana land. A very significant portion of these people work in restaurants and, let’s face it, most of us would be worlds better off if we ate at home—save money, lose weight, eat healthier, save gas, and wave bye bye to Julio and his five kids all in one fell swoop. Pass it on.
