Tainted Food Supply and Illegal Aliens

28 02 2007

Cross posted from    Right Truth

is a fact that legal immigrants are required to have medical screening to ensure that they do not bring any contagious diseases into the United States. Illegal aliens are not screened and many are carrying horrific third world diseases that do not belong in the USA. Many of these diseases are highly contagious and will infect citizens that come in contact with an infected illegal alien.  (source)

HIV , Hepatitis A-E, Tuberculosis,  … Illegal immigrants were being blamed for all of the state’s economic problems. for Salmonella and Campylobacter infections they got from tainted food.

Our food source is in trouble from many different areas, and yet the Food and Drug Administration, whose job it is to warn the public about tainted spinach and contaminated peanut butter, is conducting just half the food safety inspections it did three years ago.  (CNN)

In these countries the logic used in determining how to fertilize the soil is, “If it stinks it must be good.” Therefore the use of human fecal matter is not out of the question. There are supposedly federal guidelines requiring these exporting producers to adhere to our standards but again as in the case of Illegal Immigration, “We don’t care bout no stinkin laws.”The Conservative Voice

Neurocysticercosis,
THE WASHINGTON TIMES , February 8, 2007, via Americans for Legal Immigration

Federal researchers say neurocysticercosis, a brain infection caused by a pork tapeworm, is a “growing public health problem in the United States,” especially in states bordering Mexico, where the disease is endemic.

Neurocysticercosis is the “most common parasitic disease of the central nervous system,” according to a study jointly conducted by the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and California public health officials, who reported that “international travel and immigration are bringing the disorder to areas where it is not endemic,” such as this country.
“Neurocysticercosis is the primary cause of epilepsy in endemic areas.  [snip]

A person infected with the intestinal tapeworm stage of the infection will shed tapeworm eggs in bowel movements. Tapeworm eggs that are accidentally swallowed by other people can cause infection, the CDC says in information about the disease at its Web site, www.cdc.gov. These eggs are spread through food, water or surfaces contaminated with feces.    “So if you have people cooking for you or handling your food who are tapeworm carriers and don’t have good personal hygiene, you will be exposed to the eggs of the tapeworm” and become infected by swallowing food they touch, Mr. Tsang explained.

Carriers tend to be people from rural developing countries with poor hygiene, where pigs are allowed to roam freely and eat human feces. Mr. Tsang said the condition is rife in Mexico and other parts of Latin America and Central America and “in a large part of China and Africa.”

Clostridium botulinum, Listeria monocytogenes, salmonella, Forbes  , February 19, 2007, via Liberty Post.org

The drumroll for tainted food continued Monday with a nationwide recall of Oscar Mayer chicken breast strips for bacterial contamination. The recall by Carolina Culinary Foods of West Columbia, S.C., involves 52,650 pounds of fully cooked chicken breasts produced on Jan. 9 and distributed nationwide to retailers. [snip]

According to a statement from the U.S. Department of Agriculture, a sample of the meat tested in Georgia was contaminated by Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause listeriosis, a rare but serious infection.

The chicken breast recall is the fourth food recall in a week. Fresh cantaloupe and selected jars of organic baby food were recalled late Friday, and a major recall of peanut butter was initiated late Wednesday after 300 people in 39 states were sickened.

In the case of the cantaloupes and peanut butter, the culprit was salmonella. The baby food was contaminated with Clostridium botulinum, which can cause botulism. Both are life-threatening illnesses.

E-Coli, hemolytic-uremic syndrome,   Fresh Plaza.com

The outbreaks together sickened 350 people – and killed three, including 2-year-old Kyle Allgood, an Idaho boy who died Sept. 20 at Primary Children’s from hemolytic-uremic syndrome – nationwide  [snip]

The strain of bacteria that caused the three recent outbreaks from leafy greens – E. coli O157:H7 – is a nasty pathogen that can bring severe illness, kidney failure and death.

The source for these diseases is feces, both human and animal, which taints the water, food, preparation surfaces in restaurant kitchens from dirty hands.  No, not all of the above food contamination situations can be directly connected to illegal aliens, but some of them can.  Some are connected to other countries such as Mexico, other Latin American countries,  Costa Rica, and more.

Some (I won’t mention them specifically here) have suggested that illegal aliens are intentionally contaminating crops in our fields and even go so far as to suggest they are contaminating food in restaurants.  I have no proof of this.  But we all need to be very careful, wash your hands, wash your food, try to find out where your food comes from.

On the FDA:

The cuts by the Food and Drug Administration come despite a barrage of high-profile food recalls.

“We have a food safety crisis on the horizon,” said Michael Doyle, director of the Center for Food Safety at the University of Georgia. (Paging Dr. Gupta blog: Who’s leading the food safety charge? )

Between 2003 and 2006, FDA food safety inspections dropped 47 percent, according to a database analysis of federal records by The Associated Press.

That’s not all that’s dropping at the FDA in terms of food safety. The analysis also shows:

• There are 12 percent fewer FDA employees in field offices who concentrate on food issues.

• Safety tests for U.S.-produced food have dropped nearly 75 percent, from 9,748 in 2003 to 2,455 last year, according to the agency’s own statistics.

After the September 11 attacks, the FDA, at the urging of Congress, increased the number of food inspectors and inspections amid fears that the nation’s food system was vulnerable to terrorists. Inspectors and inspections spiked in 2003, but now both have fallen enough to erase the gains.  (source)

Can we depend on the government to keep our food supply safe and can we depend on the government to secure out borders?  That is their job, isn’t it?  It’s not just food contamination, it is diseases spread by sexual contact, blood, etc. that we also need to be concerned with.

That’s it I guess…..Muslim Cabbies in Twin Cities refuse fares

28 02 2007

Cross posted from Bear Creek Ledger

What is it with these Muslim cabbies?  It’s clear, Americans must bow to the demands of the miniscule minority.  Waaaa.  We’re only trying to earn a living to support our families in Somalia.  As a result, Americans must adhere to the words of Allah.  That’s according to the Muslim cabbies at the Mpls./St Paul Airport.  The Airport Commission has a different take on this though.  Guess the non-Muslim cabbies will benefit from the cabbies who have their undies in a knot over alcohol.

Muslim cabbies tell airport they won’t bend in alcohol dispute

For Abdi Mohamed, it’s not a question of whether he’ll carry passengers with alcohol in his cab. The question is whether he’ll get punished for refusing to do so.“I am Muslim. I’m not going to carry alcohol,” Mohamed, a driver for Bloomington Cab, told a Metropolitan Airports Commission panel that gathered public opinion Tuesday regarding proposed penalties for cabbies who refuse service to passengers carrying alcohol.

Here’s a suggestion to the Muslim cabbies – get a new job, cause you’re going to need it. You’ve been given an opportunity to live in the United States of America, not Somalia. Adapt and assimilate or go back from whence you came. Of course there’s the Muslim imam who also happens to be an adjunct law professor who has to chime in…..

Hassan Mohamud, a Muslim imam and adjunct law professor at William Mitchell College of Law, said the Muslim cab drivers are only trying to support their families, both here and in their strife-torn home country, and are being placed in an impossible situation.“If we pass this (policy) it means cutting off the lifelines of thousands of people,” Mohamud said.

Yeah, my heart is bleeding for you. No one is forcing you to drive a cab. After all, it’s always someone else’s fault for your problems. The Somali’s in Mpls. protest when the US assists Somalia against the Islamic militias, these same Somali’s cheered and celebrated in the Twin Cities when the World Trade Center was attacked by Islamic fascists and yet we still accept these ungrateful people as refugees. They then want to stain our legal system with their whining baseless lawsuits.  But that won’t stop them from trying to force their beliefs and Islam on the unbelievers!  The Islamists will use whatever tool is available and that includes the Supreme Court.

“This is a religious freedom issue, and it will not end here,” Abdi said. “It will go to the courts, even the Supreme Court. The drivers will not relinquish their rights to be protected under American law.”

Mexican Trucks To The Rescue . . .

27 02 2007

Cross Posted from    Common Sense America

To Do Another Job Americans Won’t Do

Ok, now it’s personal.

Apparently, American truckers have now joined the-jobs-Americans-won’t-do-club and are going to be replaced by Mexican trucks and drivers who will be able to freely cross our borders within the next two months. Mexican truck drivers who, not surprisingly, are willing to work for less than a third of what American drivers now earn. The average Mexican truck driver now earns an average of about $40,000 a year compared to an American owner-operator who earns approximately $150,000 a year.

Since when is a six-figure income a job that Americans don’t want to do? It isn’t. How do I know that Americans are more than willing to do this job? I own a trucking company, so I asked each of my drivers why they didn’t want their jobs anymore and, after most of them picked their jaws up off of the floor, they assured me that trucking is their career, their life, and their livelihood.

But none of that seems to matter to this administration because last week the announcement was made that 100 Mexican trucking companies will be allowed to haul freight across our borders and operate freely in the United States. Currently, trucks from Mexico must stay within 20 miles of the Mexican border and then transfer their freight to an American truck – owned by an American company.

Not anymore.

But you can be sure that the loss of freight at the border for American truckers and American trucking companies won’t be the only backlash of the latest scheme of this erase-the-border-administration.

Judicial Watch reports:

Substandard trucks driven by low-paid, unqualified Mexican drivers that will threaten national security and endanger American motorists will travel freely throughout the United States under a new Bush Administration pilot project.

And OOIDA, the Owner Operator Independent Drivers Association, reports:

After years of roadblocks that all but prevented Mexico-domiciled trucks from operating throughout the U.S., the border will be opening to 100 Mexican motor carriers in two short months.

One of the biggest sticking points keeping the border closed to Mexican-domiciled trucks has been who will inspect the trucks and where they will be inspected before they are allowed into the states.

On Thursday, Feb. 22, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Mary Peters announced that U.S. officials would be inspecting the Mexican motor carriers in Mexico.

And though Ms. Peters assures us all that every truck crossing our border from Mexico will be inspected, OOIDA goes on to report:

Simple math indicates that the inspection rate of the entire available vehicle population is 3.9 percent. To put it another way, a Mexican truck has a 96.1 percent of not being inspected at any border crossing in the country.

“Outrageous is the best way to describe the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) nearly simultaneous announcements that all safety and security issues with Mexican motor carriers have been resolved, and that 100 of these trucking companies will now be given U.S. DOT’s blessing to operate throughout the United States,” said OOIDA Executive Vice President Todd Spencer.

But lack of inspection of the cargo is not the only problem American citizens will face:

Spencer said not only are U.S. regulations on Americans more stringent in terms of verifying that a driver has been tested, but U.S. licenses can also be verified to show driving history, violations and compliance of any vehicle driven going back even a decade or longer. When enforcement officials run a Mexican CDL (Commercial Drivers License), the only information he can access will be that of previous operation in the U.S., not Mexico where a driver might have a rap sheet as along as your arm.

So, how much of a stretch would it be to think that perhaps we could have vicious criminals driving eighteen wheelers freely across this nation? What about drug addicts or alcoholics behind the wheel of that big rig coming your way?

Mexico has never had specific drug testing regulations or hours-of-service rules for its drivers that could be verified or enforced and still doesn’t.

Or what about a driver that works for less pay and has to work more hours to afford fuel and truck maintenance – not to mention food on the table for his family? American drivers have regulations they must adhere to in regard to how many hours per day they may drive, but:

“There is simply no way anyone can know whether a truck driver coming from Mexico entering the U.S. has been awake two hours or two weeks when they clear the border,” he (Spencer) said. “And if the safety and security shortcomings still remaining at the border aren’t enough to set off alarm bells — once a truck from Mexico clears the border, enforcement of rules covering international shipments and authority are non-existent.”

As you can imagine, the Teamsters Union is not happy about this pilot program at all and reports;

“As with the Dubai Ports debacle, President Bush is willing to risk our national security by giving unfettered access to America’s transportation infrastructure to foreign companies and their government sponsors,” said Jim Hoffa, Teamsters General President. “They are playing of game of Russian Roulette on America’s highways. Mexico refuses to meet their end of the bargain yet President Bush rewards them with open access to American highways. It is the American driving public who will pay the consequences.”

The Teamsters Union has led efforts to keep the border closed for the past twelve years. Just two years ago, the Department of Transportation Inspector General found that the Mexican government and Mexican motor carriers did not meet congressionally mandated requirements. An Inspector General audit report is due in the next couple of months, raising serious questions as to why President Bush is pushing this experimental program ahead of that report.

“Where is the Inspector’s General report that tells us that Mexico is meeting U.S. standards?” Hoffa asked. “Why is the President willing to move forward when his own Inspector General has stated that Mexico cannot meet its obligations?”

Why, indeed. But we all know the answer to that one, don’t we? Maybe it has a little something to do with open borders?

The Teamsters website goes on to report:

The plan raises several serious concerns, including:

  • The impact on homeland security initiatives. Will the drivers be checked against the terror watch list or will our borders be open to anyone with a Mexican driver’s license? Will the drivers be required to carry a Mexican passport as U.S. citizens are required to present their passports when entering the country from Mexico or Canada?
  • The DOT has been disingenuous about this pilot program, indicating only a few weeks ago that it was not pursuing this pilot program. What else are they lying about?
  • Enforcement of hours of service in Mexico, false log books and fatigued drivers entering the U.S.
  • The application of U.S. standards to Mexican drivers including the requirement that U.S. drivers have a Commercial Drivers License, undergo regular physicals and meet minimum age requirements.
  • The integrity of drug and alcohol testing. Though testing will be done in U.S. labs, it is unclear who will oversee the collection of random samples creating a system ripe for abuse.
  • Enforcement of U.S. wage and hour laws.DOT’s assertion that all trucks will be inspected by U.S. officials in Mexico and at the U.S. border when less than ten percent of all Mexican trucks entering the commercial zone are inspected now.

“The DOT has indicated that ‘this is as narrow experiment’ as they could initiate. Yet it is an experiment that allows 100 companies and an unknown number of Mexican trucks onto our highways and forces the U.S. traveling public to serve as guinea pigs,” Hoffa said. “That is unacceptable. I call on Congress to hold hearings immediately and to put an end to this nonsense.”

  • “Guinea pigs.” Isn’t that what we all are in this experiment of globalization and the new North American Union? This administration and the rest of our Congressional cretins don’t care two wits about the safety of Americans. Every single day, Americans die at the hands of illegal aliens. Every single day American jobs are lost to illegal aliens. And now, one more industry is being handed to Mexico on a silver platter, to the detriment of the American worker.

It doesn’t matter to the corporations, or to our elected officials, that this will hurt the American citizen. It doesn’t matter that the safety of our roads and the jobs that Americans value are in jeopardy.

What matters is money and agendas.

And since Mexican truckers will work for less than a third of the price that American truckers can survive on – this replacement force is a grand bargain for corporate America. How lovely for these corporations and their little hand puppet, George Bush, who envisions one big happy continent run by the corporate elites.

Just a quick note: The word is out and the talk on CB radios across the nation is that American truckers should all plan a much-needed vacation if this pilot program goes into effect. Many owner operators and driver employees cannot go on strike because it is in violation of their contracts BUT there is nothing in their contracts that says millions of American truck drivers can’t take a few weeks off work. Can you say “blue flu” boys and girls – or maybe, The Great American Red, White, and Blue Flu???

Catch the Illegal Immigrant” – NY Times – A Game with Whiners

    27 02 2007

    Cross posted from    Demediacratic Nation

Free opinion here, no TimeSelect fee necessary.

From the editorial board over at the toilet “paper” of record:

“It’s almost enough to make us nostalgic for streaking and sitting on flagpoles. College students from Michigan to Florida have found a new way to get attention, offend others and make a right-wing statement all at once. It’s a game with a name that says it all: “Catch the Illegal Immigrant.”

Hey, I’m all for seeing a few “streakers,” however, if you’re into sitting on “flagpoles,” I’m sure there is an appropriate fetish site for that; but I regress digress.

Do you ever notice how certain “free speech” on campuses shouldn’t be “free?” Do you ever notice that it is usually speech or activity from groups labeled “Rightwing,” that tend to raise the ire of the Times/School Administrators/Liberal college groups?

This mornings Times pines for the days when life was as simple as making your statement the “old fashioned” way; with your flesh. Flashback to the day when re-writing reality wasn’t more easily countenanced. To a day when running naked was inappropriately appropriate. Fighting the message is much easier when you don’t know what the action was supposed to represent.

Today, unfortunately we have some (on the Right oddly), that now use an offensive game called “Catch the Illegal Immigrant,” and according to the board:

“have declared piously that they’re just trying to spark debate”

No “piety” detected from the board……

The editorial also concerns itself with the “fact” that:

“Administrators are in a tough spot, trying to balance free speech with offensive behavior.”

The tough spot being that we’re watching, waiting and listening to see how you react to something you don’t agree with, yet tend to accept, allow and justify from just about any college group from the Left (campus center). “Behavior,” the schools and Times find offensive perhaps because people with this type of opinion/behavior could easily have been aborted to avoid activities like this, yet Right wingers, being the zealots we are tend to prefer extermination later in life, i.e. wars, death penalty, etc.

In order to silence those the Times deems sub-intelligent, they close by simplifying the debate in terms that allow them to understand the opposition; as anyone with any semblance of thought can certainly understand this:

‘“Catch the Immigrant” also reflects a larger misunderstanding of the immigration issue. The more than 11 million illegal immigrants cannot be caught. Even if they could be, rounding them up and deporting them would be disastrous, economically and socially. Educators should teach the game players about the real world.”

See how stupid these crazy kids are? Don’t they understand the simplicity of immigration reform the paper supports is?

11 million is an estimate and I’ve always wondered how one deals face to face with an estimate. Legislation put forward thus far of the “comprehensive” variety will send a certain number of the “estimates (based on time “illegally” in the country),” back “home,” then allow them to return and file for “legal” citizenship at the front of the line. Some “estimates,” will be allowed to remain, pay a fine, then receive their “amnesty, regularization, legalization, normalization, permanence, earned adjustment, phased-in access to earned regularization,” or whatever term the Times may use to cloud the issue to their liking/understanding.

That last line? “Educators should teach the game players about the real world.” Starting with one of the “star” players sitting comfortably passing judgment at the Times.

“The “Gun of Navarette” Fires Again – Immigration debate between wall and wallet”

    26 02 2007

    Cross posted from   Demediacratic Nation

“Hopefully, at the end of it all, we’ll have comprehensive immigration reform that gives illegal immigrants a path to legal residency. Until that happens, the popular view is that towns, cities, and states will take it upon themselves to try to end illegal immigration — for better or worse.””I’m ready for some better. I’ve seen plenty of the worse.”

Ruben Navarette with commentary at CNN.Com

I have read and posted regarding Mr. Navarette’s commentary on the subject of “illegal” immigration before. The quote above outlines one of his major (if not only) concerns about the need for “comprehensive” immigration reform; citizenship for the “illegals” in country now.

Previously he has taken issue with Lou Dobbs and Dobbs’ being critical of “illegal immigration, as a means of “growing fame and fortune.” There was also the time Navarette took issue with the “cynical and cowardly” GOP immigration hearings; which I guess wasn’t quite the vote getter they had hoped for.

How about the time Ruby “generalized,” that “prejudice – and its cousins, racism and xenophobia – are intrinsic to the immigration debate.” That’s me and CAII, it’s a lot easier to argue against proponents of the law if you believe this is how we all feel; you don’t actually have to listen because we’re “racists and xenophobes.”

The last time I felt like reading anything by Ruben Navarette was upon his offer of a free class entitled, “Immigration Reform for Dummies;” I understand now why it’s free….

Here are the “plenty of the worse,” from “Gun of Navarette” (I used red font):

    • Texas State Rep. Leo Berman has written a bill that would deny U.S.-born children of illegal immigrants access to state programs. The Republican is targeting what he tactlessly calls “anchor babies.”

    • I guess the only thing that bothers Ruben here is “tactless” term for U.S. born children of illegal immigrants. I don’t however think so; my only issue is whether it’s retroactive or not. What ever is made more difficult, the less likely it is for people to try it. Although, I suppose it would be more effective with consequences, but…..

    • Some state legislatures are considering leveling taxes on the billions of dollars that illegal immigrants send home annually to other countries (read: Mexico).

    • Doesn’t the Mexican government do this on the Southern side? (read: Mexico, per Navarettes suggestion)

    • States such as Utah and Virginia are threatening to eliminate in-state tuition rates for illegal immigrant students who attend public colleges and universities.

    • This is a mistaken distinction that opponents of the law/proponents of “illegal immigration,” often seem to make, which I believe is: well, if a resident of one state can move and live in another state for a period of time can get “in-state” tuition rates, why shouldn’t “illegal aliens;” there’s no difference right?

    • In Maryland, State Delegate Ronald A. George and Sen. Janet Greenip, both Republicans, have filed bills that would require anyone applying for a state driver’s license to show proof that they’re in the country legally.

    • This is just unthinkable; closing a illogical loophole that allows anyone in line at the DMV a drivers license regardless of citizenship or burkha.

    • Last year, the Colorado Legislature approved legislation that requires that those who apply for state-funded programs must prove they are legal U.S. residents and sign an affidavit to that effect.

    • Terrible, terrible….it must be the thin air that causes this “racism and xenophobia.” There is nothing illogical in requiring citizenship for state services rendered.

    • And city councils in Escondido, California, Hazelton, Pennsylvania and Farmers Branch, Texas, last year passed ordinances fining landlords that rent to illegal immigrants and declaring English their towns’ official language.

    • The Fed has ignored this problem for too long, so you know, don’t pull over any speeding “illegals,” or anything that might hamper these “illegal” activities that might clean things up a bit.

All of the above “issues” are what Navarette has with localities and states taking matters into their own hands, which according to him is a no-no, since he feels they deserve much of the blame. So, you make the mess, how dare you try to clean it up; let the real “professional” “wind directional” politicians in Washington take care of it for you; at least one of them is really good at “multi-tasking” can change our diapers. If citizenship no longer means any form of patriotism or pride etc., can’t we Americans at least have perks signifying we actually legally belong here?

But hey, you can take what I have to say with a grain of salt since I’m “racist and xenophobic,” at least Ruben is convinced of that.

Mexican Wives Tell U.S. To Close Border

    26 02 2007

Cross posted from   Common Sense America

new website is getting a lot of attention this morning. It seems the women of Tecalpulco, Mexico are tired of running their village alone. They are asking the government of the United States to uphold our immigration laws and send their men back home. The women of Tecalpulco started a website named Wetback Wives to send their pleas to our government and to their absent husbands, sons, and brothers.

    The Washington Times reports:

It’s a stark reminder of an often forgotten voice in the U.S. immigration debate — the wives, children, parents and villages left behind as millions of workers come to the U.S., many of them illegally. The plea also underscores the dual effects of migration on Mexico: Its economy needs American jobs as an outlet for workers, but determined, able-bodied workers get siphoned out of Mexico.

More than 10 million Mexican-born people, or nearly one out of every 10, was living in the United States in 2005. And as a percentage of the work force it’s even higher: One in seven, or 14 percent, were here, according to the Migration Policy Institute. The institute said 77 percent of Mexican workers in the U.S. were younger than 45, and 70 percent were men.

Villages devoid of men between 20 and 50 are common in many parts of the country. The stories of single mothers struggling to raise their children are just as frequent.

The women of Tecalpulco have come up with one way to cope. They run an artists’ cooperative to sell traditional-style jewelry, including through the Internet. The page where they make their personal pleas, http://www.artcamp.com.mx/venga/, is a part of their Web site.

    But our elected officials, who frequently give sappy speeches about reuniting families – and compassion – when they talk about handing out their blanket amnesty to the millions of illegal aliens in our nation, couldn’t care less about the American or the Mexican family. No. The bottom line is this;

Mexican officials are aware of the social and economic consequences to their towns and villages. But businesses and government officials on both sides of the border also acknowledge a sort of grand bargain — the U.S. gets cheap labor, while Mexico has an outlet for its unemployed, who in turn send cash back home.

A “grand bargain” for everyone but the citizens of both nations. It’s all about the money – as usual. You can view the women of Tecalpulco’s heartfelt letters here.

    Mexico Condemns U.S. Trespassing

    26 02 2007

    Crossposted from Liberally Conservative

Mexico’s Congress has condemned what it says is a border violation by US workers building a controversial barrier between the two countries.

Legislators say workers and equipment building a section of the barrier have gone 10 metres (yards) into Mexico.

Mexican legislators said they had photographs and video, taken on Monday, of the workers and heavy-duty construction equipment that showed them about 10 metres inside Mexico near the border city of Agua Prieta and the town of Douglas, Arizona.

In a statement, the US Ambassador to Mexico Tony Garza said: “The US is sensitive to Mexican concerns… [and] has the deepest respect for the integrity of the sovereignty of Mexican soil“.

Many Mexicans see the fence as offensive and say it will be ineffective and potentially cause more deaths in border crossings.

An estimated 1.2 million illegal immigrants were arrested in 2005 trying to cross into the US via the border states of Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.

Mexicans find a fence to protect a country from illegal intrusion as offensive and the fence will cause more deaths. The fence is the cause of deaths to illegal or prospective illegal immigrants?

However, American workers cross into Mexico by 10 meters and the Mexican government cries foul.

So we ask, “Why did the Mexican cross the border?” Answer: To get into a sovereign nation by breaking its laws.

Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media has written a fairly concise and straight forward article on SPP or Security and Prosperity Partnership which is a deliberately complicated and obtuse type of under the radar agreement to merge the United States, Canada and Mexico into the North American Union.  You will hear from the likes of Tony Snow this is just an “urban legend” but the activities of our government officials belies this cavalier response.

    Surrendering our Sovereignty

“The Security and Prosperity Partnership was launched in 2005 to ensure continued economic prosperity in Canada, the United States and Mexico, and to increase the security of citizens in all three countries,” says a release from the Canadian government. It sounds innocent enough. Those in attendance are supposed to include, from the government of Canada: Peter MacKay, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency, Stockwell Day, Minister of Public Safety, and Maxime Bernier, Minister of Industry. Their Mexican and U.S. counterparts are Secretary of Foreign Affairs Patricia Espinosa, Secretary of the Interior Francisco Javier Ramírez Acuña, Secretary of Economy Eduardo Sojo Garza-Aldape, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff, and Secretary of Commerce Carlos M. Gutierrez. The Canadian government says that a “media availability” will be held so that photographs can be taken and a few questions asked of the various officials. My question would be: what is the legal basis for the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP)? My research can find no legal basis for this complicated process, now about two years old, involving the futures of our three countries.

My interest stems from covering an all-day February 16 conference sponsored by the Center for North American Studies devoted to developing a North American legal system. It occurred to me at this conference, after examining the literature provided to me and hearing the various experts on the panels, that a process has been well underway to merge not only the legal but economic, political, and social systems of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I wondered how this was all set in motion and what justification there was legally, legislatively or constitutionally, for it to proceed.

On one level, as I discovered at the conference, much of it stems from NAFTA, the North American Free Trade Agreement, which was pushed through Congress by President Clinton, getting majorities in both Houses, and bypassing the treaty process that requires a two-thirds vote in favor in the Senate. Clinton knew that he couldn’t get the votes that a treaty required.

President Bush, a supporter of NAFTA, entered the picture on March 23, 2005, when he issued a statement with then-Mexican President Vicente Fox and then-Canadian Prime Minister Paul Martin and announced the establishment of the SPP. I had reported that the statement was signed by President Bush, but was corrected by a reader who said that, according to the SPP website, it was not. The SPP says, “The SPP is a dialogue to increase security and enhance prosperity among the three countries. The SPP is not an agreement nor is it a treaty. In fact, no agreement was ever signed.”

Yet I found a statement issued by then-Prime Minister Martin, in which he declared that “President Bush, President Fox and I signed the Security and Prosperity Partnership…” A transcript of a “press availability” from June 27, 2005, shows Carlos Abascal, the Mexican Secretary of the Interior, saying that, “Our three leaders, President Fox, President Bush and prime Minister Paul Martin have signed the Security and Prosperity Partnership of North America.”

Why would officials of Canada and Mexico say the document was signed when it was not? Are they simply in error?

I found the text on the website of U.S. presidential documents but it did not indicate a signature had been attached to it. It is not listed under the category of executive orders. I’m no lawyer, but if the document was not signed, what legal basis, justification or force can it have?

A Canadian report describes the SPP as “an international framework for trilateral and bilateral cooperation in North America” that is “not a formal international treaty” or “an overarching binding legal agreement.” But what is an “international framework” that commits U.S. officials from various federal agencies to working with officials of two other countries? Why is such a process not subjected to congressional scrutiny and approval?

It sounds suspiciously like the “non-binding resolution” that the House passed opposing President Bush’s policy in Iraq, except for the fact that, on the basis of this allegedly unsigned SPP document, federal officials have entered into other agreements with the governments of Mexico and Canada which have been signed. In other words, this is a non-binding agreement or announcement that has binding consequences on the American people. The SPP refers, for example, to a “signed” agreement with Mexico on consumer goods and a “signed” agreement with Canada on pipeline regulations. They are described by the SPP as “accomplishments.” Who signed these documents? It doesn’t say. Why should they be signed when the original agreement creating the SPP is not? It doesn’t explain.

White House spokesman Tony Snow has cavalierly dismissed concerns about this process, saying the charge that the U.S. is being submerged in a North American Union and developing a common currency with Canada and Mexico is an “urban legend.” He must be unaware of the deep involvement in this process of Robert Pastor, a former Clinton adviser and Carter official who was behind the North American legal system conference. Pastor, an adviser to every Democratic candidate for president since 1976, is the brain behind the “North American Community,” as he calls it. His support for the Panama Canal Treaty and radical forces in Latin America prompted Senator Jesse Helms, then-chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, to threaten to prevent a vote on Pastor’s nomination by President Clinton as Ambassador to Panama. Pastor withdrew his nomination. One of Pastor’s ideas, a “North American Investment Fund” to provide $200 billion to Mexico, was introduced as a bill by conservative Republican Senator John Cornyn.

Snow’s flip comment will not satisfy the growing number of conservatives who find this SPP process to be of dubious constitutionality. Free trade is one thing, but the idea of exploiting NAFTA as part of an effort to develop “North American Institutions,” including a North American Supreme Court with the power to overrule the U.S. Supreme Court, is something else entirely. Yet these are some of the ideas being seriously discussed by those, like Pastor, who believe in “continental thinking.”

The Democrats who have taken control of Congress promised increased oversight of the executive branch. The SPP deserves some of their immediate attention. But Robert Pastor shouldn’t be left off the witness list.

BTW, the Mexican trucks from 100 companies will start moving in the US under a year long pilot program. These trucks will have unlimited access across the country. If anyone thinks that trouble is not going to erupt from this action, they are seriously deluded.  If you start to hear about semi’s going into rivers or having inexplicable accidents on the interstate think of this pilot program.  Anyone who thinks truckers are going to complacently accept Mexican truckers on the road will find out otherwise.  All it will take is hearing a Spanish speaking trucker over the CB and all bets are off.

Add BP Agent Gary Brugman to Sutton’s list

    25 02 2007

Cross Posted from   Bear Creek Ledger

can read about former BP Agent Gary Brugman who was prosecuted by US Attorney Johnny Sutton.  Again this case involves incentives to Mexican illegals just as what happened with Ramos & Compean plus disreputable witnesses were brought in who really had nothing to do with the trumped up charges.  Granted this story is written by Gary Brugman but after reading his story my stomach was in knots with anger at our government.

A scandalous, but creative twist to this prosecution was that the Sutton gang also brought a convicted and incarcerated drug smuggler from his prison cell to testify against Agent Brugman. A drug smuggler who Agent Burgman himself had captured six weeks after the incident for which he was being prosecuted. Once again, there had been no previous accusation of any civil rights violation. Now however, the convicted drug smuggler conveniently offered supporting testimony to the prosecution’s false accusation that Gary Brugman was a rogue agent and a criminal. The false and vengeful testimony of this convicted drug smuggler should never have been allowed by the judge.

No one would listen to Gary Brugman several years ago and he spent two years in the general population at federal prisons wearing newspapers and magazines taped to his body as hopeful protection against inmate attacks.  In view of what has recently been disclosed about Johnny Sutton’s malicious tactics, his story will be viewed with great interest now.  Gary lost everything and his life was ruined but he survived his sentence and is now a free man again.  Gary Brugman remains a patriotic American and tells his story now only in an effort to help Ignacio Ramos, Jose Compean, and Gilmer Hernandez prove their innocence against the power, influence, and treachery of the U.S. Attorney and George Bush water boy, Johnny Sutton.

    Excerpt from Brugman’s story:

On October 28, 2002 I was brought to trial in Austin, Texas; a venue that I had not agreed to. Jury Selection began that morning. The prosecution had a seperate list of special questions for the jurors in order to hand pick a jury. Selection was complete by that afternoon and trial began. The first thing that AUSA Bill Baumann did under the direction of Johnny Sutton, along with DOJ Trial Attorney Brent Alan Gray, was ask that the incident involving the narcotics smuggler Rodriguez-Silva on February 22nd be introduced as evidence. I objected due to the fact that he was a convicted drug smuggler, who I myself had arrested and was the primary reason he was already serving time in the first place. Plus, the incident happened six weeks after the indicted offense. Most of all, it had absolutely nothing to do with what I was being charged with and no allegations had ever been made that I had, in any way, violated any Border Patrol policy when I apprehended him. However, Judge Justice allowed the evidence to be presented despite my objections. On the prosecutions table sat AUSA Bill Baumann, Brent Alan Gray, OIG Agent Gary Moore, and the Mexican Consulate along with an associate that was working the computer and slide projector. Jimenez-Saldaña was called to the stand. Jimenez told his version of the story as Baumann asked questions. Bill Baumann took the incident and changed my words to benefit the Government. When I pushed Jimenez and the other subject on the ground, I told them to sit and then I asked “Why are you running?” It is a standard question that every Law Enforcement Officer has asked a subject that has ran from them. I always asked that question because it’s been my experience that many times they will tell you the truth…”I’ve been deported”, “I have drugs on me”, “I have warrants”. It’s a standard law enforcement question. Baumann continously and intentionally misquoted me as saying Do you like to run? So you like to run, huh?” Words I never said. But, he kept on repeating in front of the jury dozens of times. When I was testifying, I told him what I had actually said, then he mocked me by saying “Why did you ask them that? Were you concerned about their health? Did you want to take them for a jog? Put them on an excercise program, maybe?”

Be sure to read former BP Agent Gary Brugman’s whole story. You will notice similarities to some of the antics used against Ramos & Compean, Deputy Sheriff Hernandez and BP Agent David Sipe (although Sipe was not prosecuted by Sutton, Sipe’s charges came from a April, 2000 incident).

Bank of America to assist those less fortunate…..AT 21.4% apr

    24 02 2007

Cross posted from   Stiknstein…has no mercy

AND YOU THOUGHT CORPORATE AMERICA ONLY CARED ABOUT THE WELFARE OF THE MIDDLE CLASS……………………

The bank’s pilot program, revealed last week, focuses on Hispanics in the Los Angeles area.

    BANK.jpg

Today, Bank of America Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis vowed to continue the banks new credit card program for Americans….citizens…..taxpayers…..college students….workers…..single dads….homeless people…..single moms……..illegal aliens and potential terrorists.
The bank’s pilot program, revealed last week, focuses on Hispanics in the Los Angeles area. It is open to people (illegal aliens and terrorists) who lack both a Social Security number and a credit history, (like Mohammed Atta) as long as they have held a checking account with the bank for three months without an overdraft (and not told anyone they have overstayed their Visa). Most adults in the U.S. who don’t have a Social Security number are undocumented immigrants. The Charlotte, N.C., banking giant tested the program last year at five branches in Los Angeles, and last week expanded it to 51 branches in Los Angeles County, home to the largest concentration of illegal immigrants in the U.S. The bank hopes to roll out the program (to all illegal aliens and terrorists) nationally later this year.

‘‘These people are coming here for quality of life, and they deserve somebody to give them a chance to achieve that quality of life,’’ says Brian Tuite, the bank’s director of Latin America card operations and one of the architects of the program.
Bank of America defended the program, saying it complies with U.S. banking and antiterrorism laws. Company executives say that the initiative isn’t about politics, but rather about meeting the needs of an untapped group of potential customers.

    He might have added:
“There are millions of untapped potential BOA stockholders that could care less how much we exploit illegal immigrants. It is important for these potential investors to realize that our only mission is to make them money. We want to improve their quality of life so that they can buy the stocks and annuities they deserve.
Now that the middle class is tapped out. It is our fiduciary responsibility to explore this new avenue of folks even less able to repay crushing credit card debts. Politics is not a factor…..We applaud both Democrats and Republicans for their disregard of immigration laws and the important banking loopholes they have provided us with.”

As part of the campaign — which kicks off during Sunday’s Academy Awards broadcast on ABC — the bank plans to adopt a new tagline, “Bank of Opportunity, ” replacing the four-year-old slogan “Higher Standards.”

    bank2.jpg

The new program shows BOA’s commitment to stamping out the loan sharks and check cashing storefronts that preyed on the less fortunate by criminally charging up front fees and high interest rates, leading to never ending debt.

Now folks can now go into a legitimate bank……. and be charged high up front fees and high interest rates which lead to never ending debt……

“We are willing to grant credit to someone with little or no credit history,” says Lance Weaver, Bank of America’s head of international card services…..”
Bank Of America CEO Lewis went on to say that denying services to individuals who can legally use Bank of America products would encourage them to use underground financial services. We believe we have an obligation to serve all those in our country who are legally eligible to receive services. To do less would be discriminatory and unfair.”

    It Finally Happened ….

    23 02 2007

Cross Posted via email from….. Red Hot Cuppa Politics

I listened to the Laura Ingram show this morning while making
coffee … the topic was illegal immigration.

There was a caller who identified himself as Mexican American; he
    said
that while he appreciated Mexico, he was born in America, and loved
this country. He added that the illegals were “spoiling things for
everybody” — that he had friends and relatives who would love to do
anything necessary to immigrate legally, but couldn’t get through
INS. Remember, INS was the government agency which issued Mohammed
Atta an extension on his student VISA in 2002!

I’m actually not too worried about the Bank of America credit cards
for illegal aliens, mostly because I think that it’s going to be self
limited; I just think it’s another way for illegals to go into high
interest credit card debt and it will probably not be that long
before merchants, and illegals begin to understand that. The bank
gets more money, and class of serfs here in America is created.
Remember the old tried and true medieval fuedal system — the serfs
were allowed to farm property owned by landlords, and keep the fruit
of their labors, with the understanding that they pay off debt.
Paying off debt is not a bad thing, of course — but the only way
they could get seed, tools and so forth was to go heavily into debt.
Because the landlords kept it that way; prices were jacked up just
enough to ensure that certain serf families were in debt for
    generations.

A better service to illegal aliens would be to just scrap the credit
cards and get serious about learning English.

    North American Community Becoming Reality

    23 02 2007

     Cross posted from    Right Truth

The North American Community is not considered a formal union of the three countries, Mexico, Canada and the United States, as the North American Union is. However, there was a February 16 conference devoted to the development of a North American legal system, according to Cliff Kincaid of Accuracy in Media. He says, “The holding of the conference was itself evidence that a comprehensive process is underway to merge the economies, and perhaps the social and political systems, of the three countries.”

[Robert] Pastor said that he favors a “North American Community,” not a formal union of the three countries, and several speakers at the conference ridiculed the idea of protecting America’s borders and suggested that American citizenship was an outmoded concept.Wearing a lapel pin featuring the flags of the U.S., Canada and Mexico, Pastor told AIM that he favors a $200-billion North American Investment Fund to pull Mexico out of poverty and a national biometric identity card for the purpose of controlling the movement of people in and out of the U.S.

So the “conspiracy” is now very much out in the open, if only the media would pay some attention to it. (source)

One problem is that the media is not interested in this topic. Perhaps they think it’s a good idea, but are afraid to publicize the fact that is is actually a possible reality for fear Americans will stand up and protest. Imagine for one minute that there is ONE legal system for all three countries? What a disaster that would be.

The conference, conducted in cooperation with the American Society of International Law, an organization affiliated with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations, was held at the American University Washington College of Law. A large number of speakers came from American University. [snip]Academic literature distributed in advance to conference participants about a common legal framework for the U.S., Canada and Mexico included proposals for a North American Court of Justice (with the authority to overrule a decision of the U.S. Supreme Court), a North American Trade Tribunal, a North American Court of Justice, and a Charter of Fundamental Human Rights for North America, also dubbed the North American Social Charter.

Do any of you want a “North American Parliament”, a permanent tribunal” on trade issues, or anything even slightly similar to the European Union, European Parliament or European Court of Justice? Talking about the suggested wall between Mexico and the U.S., Stephen Zamora of the University of Houston Law School said, “What does citizenship mean anymore?” Obviously it doesn’t mean much to Mr. Zamora. To me being an American citizen means everything. It is a matter of pride, it means we have a special history, a special form of government, a special form of legal system. All that would change with a North American Union.

Another speaker, Tom Farer, Dean of the Graduate School of International Studies at the University of Denver said , Tom Tancredo ‘was a backward thinker’ and ‘could be seen “dragging his knuckles along the ground.”‘ I believe Tom Tancredo is a brave leader in the fight against illegal aliens here in the United States. Of course with a North American Union, there would be no such thing as ‘illegal’.

The article is long, detailed, and well worth the read. Go read it all here.

Janitorial Services Swept Up in Immigrant Sweep

    22 02 2007

    Cross posted from Liberally Conservative

Via The Wall Street Journal (subscription)

Three top officials of a nationwide cleaning service were charged Thursday with fraud and tax crimes as part of a federal investigation that also netted hundreds of illegal immigrants in 18 states.

The illegal immigrants were working as janitors for Rosenbaum-Cunningham International, Inc., or RCI, a cleaning contractor for businesses that is based in Nevada.

The workers were swept up early Thursday in 63 locations nationwide, including restaurants such as the House of Blues, Hard Rock Cafe, ESPN Zone, Planet Hollywood, and others, according to a law-enforcement official.

RCI co-owners Richard M. Rosenbaum and Edward Scott Cunningham and firm controller Christina Flocken face various criminal fraud, immigration and tax charges in the 23-count indictment unsealed in U.S. District Court in Grand Rapids, Mich.

The investigation, led by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, began 20 months ago from concerns about cleaning crews at the Grand Traverse Resort in western Michigan.

RCI contracted with the resort between June 1997 and March 2006, according to the indictment. Between 2002 and 2006 alone, Grand Traverse paid RCI over $3 million for grounds and maintenance services, kitchen cleaning and housekeeping duties. But RCI failed to pay employment taxes on its nationwide operations — defrauding the government of more than $18 million — and didn’t require its workers to show proof of legal U.S. residence as required by law, according to the indictment.

An estimated 250 illegal immigrants working as janitors were caught up in the probe, according to the law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the charges hadn’t yet been publicly announced.

Bank of America – Illegal Immigrant Credit Card Program Stays!

    22 02 2007

    Cross posted from Liberally Conservative

Bank of America (BAC) defiantly declared on Thursday that it would not cancel its new credit card program for individuals with no social security numbers or credit histories, which critics charge is an attempt to profit from illegal immigrants and a potential threat to national security.

We originally reported on BOA here.

    FoxNews reports:

In an opinion piece in the Wall Street Journal, Bank of America CEO Kenneth D. Lewis made clear the bank would not kill the program, which he said was intended only to offer services to customers lacking credit backgrounds, and was not initiated to target illegal immigrants in the U.S.

“Bank of America does not deliberately market financial products and services to illegal immigrants from any country.” he wrote. Instead, the bank chief said that the program was created to help consumers who lack certain financial tools.

“We believe we have an obligation to serve all those in our country who are legally eligible to receive services. To do less would be discriminatory and unfair.”

Let’s digest this without getting ill. There is an obligation at Bank of America to serve all those in our country legally eligible to receive services. However, these people are in the United States illegally, without a social security card or any other proof of legality. They are criminals breaking the law of the land.

Bank of America is relying on a clause in the Patriot Act, which allows financial institutions to accept some official identification sources issued by foreign governments, including the matricula consular, an ID issued by Mexican consulate offices to its nationals living outside Mexico, as valid.

After a week of listening to our customers, we have made a decision. We will continue our card marketing pilot program in the Los Angeles market.

Bank of America, it’s everywhere terrorists want to be.

Folks, we HAVE to speak THEIR language

    22 02 2007

Cross posted from    Common Sense America

Here are just a few current events happening as a result of our unprotected borders. The Seattle Times reports about Tucson, Arizona:

Now drug smugglers want their route. And to drive home their point, they’ve burned nearly two dozen vehicles of van drivers in the last two months, and left migrants shoeless in the Sonora.

The violence spilled into Arizona last week: Three Guatemalans in a truck carrying illegal immigrants were killed in a shooting northwest of Tucson.

Some officials say human smugglers are fighting among themselves and ripping off migrant customers.

But others point to veteran drug-cartel leader Joaquin “Chapo” Guzman, whose nickname is Spanish slang for “Shorty.”

Guzman heads the drug cartel named for his Mexican home state of Sinaloa. And he wants the Sonoran route in the same way that Mexico’s Zeta gang wants Interstate 35 from Laredo through Texas, said two law-enforcement officials in the U.S.

“Chapo’s ambition is nothing short of taking control of the Mexican border,” said one U.S. law-enforcement official who’s been on Guzman’s trail for nearly a decade and agreed to speak only on condition of anonymity. “He’s a crafty drug trafficker and ruthless killer who also happens to be a brilliant businessman. And there’s nothing more lucrative on the border than control of vital transit border routes.”

And the East Valley Tribune of Mesa, Arizona reports:

A man driving illegal immigrants to California was kidnapped in front of five witnesses Wednesday, but they gave police so little information that they can’t look for him.

The kidnapping occurred after a high speed chase and shooting on westbound I-10 involving two pickup trucks and a small red passenger car, according to Sgt. Rick Griner, Chandler police spokesman.

As the liberals cry that we should pull our troops out of danger in Iraq, how long will it be before they want to pull our Border Patrol and Sheriff Departments out of our border states that are spiraling into lawlessness and violence unseen here since the days of the wild, wild west? How long before we ‘cut and run’? How long before we hear calls to redeploy?

After all, more people have died at the hands of illegal aliens in the past year than the number of military deaths in the past four years in Iraq. Three times as many deaths – in ONE year.

If you have not made your voice heard to your Representatives and Senators on this issue, why not? Do you think they can read your mind? Do you really think they ‘understand’ the the impact this has on the lives of the American people? Or are you praying that they will ultimately make the right choice?

    THINK AGAIN.

Take a look at what Senator John McCain said last week in an article posted in the Irish Voice, NY – Feb 20, 2007:

McCain, the Arizona Republican who is working in tandem with Democratic colleague Senator Edward Kennedy to win approval for a strong version of their McCain/Kennedy reform bill in the Senate this week, also stressed that the recent pro-immigration rallies in the U.S. are having a significant impact on the shape of the debate on Capitol Hill.

“With the kind of demonstrations taking place across America I think we will have a bill for President Bush to sign very soon,” McCain said to wild rounds of applause at St. Barnabas church in the Irish enclave of Woodlawn. “The American people are yearning for those of us in Washington to reach across the aisle and act in the best interests of the nation on this issue, instead of fighting about it.”

This is one of the reasons McCain will NEVER win the GOP nomination but if the only voices our representatives are hearing are those of foreigners who are illegally in this nation, with nary a peep from the American people, what more can you expect?

Look, our Congressional cretins don’t have a clue. But if the above statement doesn’t convince you, there’s more where that came from and it is up to us – you and I – to make sure these master morons understand fully what the American people want.

And how do we do that?

McCain gives us some advice as he makes it perfectly clear what we need to do to get our point across to him and the other dimwits in Washington by adding:

“It’s really something else,” he stated. “Senator Mel Martinez from Florida said to me that this issue has galvanized his state in a way he has never seen in his life. We’ve never seen anything quite like this. There were 200,000 people demonstrating in Phoenix, and the sheriff in LA told me the march there attracted close to 750,000 people. We’ve never seen this kind of active participation in the process.”

    What they understand is protest.

What they understand is “active participation”.

But the “active participation” he is so happy to see is from illegal aliens, not the American people.

So, where is the protest from the American people? Where is the spirit that formed this nation? Where are the patriots who will stand for what is right? Will we stand silent while foreigners continue to take to the streets, and rally our Congress, to define our nation? Will we be silent as our elected officials, instead of our own voices, hear only the voice of people in this country illegally? Have we become so satiated, so apathetic, that we are willing to sit quietly while our nation is taken from us?

“The war is actually begun!” cried Patrick Henry. This war has actually begun, friends. It is a war of ideas. It is a war of beliefs. It is a war for the sovereignty of our nation. It is a war for the rule of law and our way of life. And, all too often, it is a war for our very lives.

Will we allow communists, terrorists, and illegal aliens to take to our streets unchallenged? And please don’t try to fool anyone, or yourself, into thinking that you do not have the time to call, fax, e-mail, or write to your elected officials – in the time it took to read this post, you could have shot off quite a few words of enlightenment. Make time. Prioritize, people.

Let’s deal with our elected officials in the only language they understand. Flood their offices with letters, join in rallies and protests, and above all, make sure your voice is heard. It’s way past time for hoping and praying, friends. Most of our elected officials are beyond hope anyway. It is time to take action. Make a point to devote a few minutes each day to do something – anything – to fight for this nation.

Our troops are fighting and dying for our freedom at this very moment. We owe them no less than to help protect their home while they are far from us. We owe it to our troops. We owe it to our ancestors. We owe it to our nation. And we owe it to our future generations. Get involved today as if the future of your country depends on it – because it does.

What have you done today? Who have you contacted?

    Senate illegals bill near complete!!

    22 02 2007

    Son of a b…

    From The Washington Times:

Senators and lobbyists are putting the final touches on a comprehensive immigration-reform bill that includes an easier citizenship path for illegal aliens and weaker enforcement provisions than were in the highly criticized legislation that the Senate approved last year.
Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat who ardently supports citizenship rights for illegals, will introduce the bill as early as next week, according to Senate sources knowledgeable about the negotiations. If the Senate Judiciary Committee can make quick work of the bill, it could be ready for floor action in April.
Mr. Kennedy drafted this year’s bill with help from Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and outside lobbyists. Mr. McCain and the outside groups share Mr. Kennedy’s support for increased immigration and leniency for illegals already in the country.
Among the most active participants have been the Essential Worker Immigration Coalition (EWIC) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Both groups support giving current illegals a path to citizenship and increasing the flow of foreign workers into the country.

In my opinion, McCain just put the final nail in the coffin of his presidential ambitions.

Can anyone who is rational explain how giving amnesty and citizenship to those that have come to our country illegally makes any sense? It will cost us more to make them citizens, than it would to deport their backsides! Not to mention that they still have NOT SEALED THE BORDERS!!!

Every time they even hint at amnesty, we get a rush on our borders, what do you think will happen after we grant illegal aliens amnesty AGAIN?

You expect this from a commie like Kennedy, but from a Republican? Oh, I forgot about the business lobby. McCain is obviously a whore for sale.

One of those e-mails obtained by The Times invited Democratic immigration staffers to a briefing in early January with “key stakeholders” to discuss workplace-enforcement provisions. The invitation listed six such “stakeholders,” including the chamber and EWIC. The other groups attending the meeting, according to the e-mail, were the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, the National Council of La Raza and the Service Employees International Union.

There is a list of left wing lunatics for ya! Of course, they don’t believe in borders or love this country.

Not included in that meeting or any of the early meetings, according to several Senate aides, were key Republican senators or their staff who crossed the aisle last year to support “comprehensive” immigration reform that most Republicans considered a form of amnesty.
“We have been held out of any discussions,” said Sen. Sam Brownback, one of those who supported last year’s major immigration bill. “Our staffs have asked to be involved, but they were kept out.”
Even Sen. Arlen Specter, the Pennsylvania Republican who as chairman of the Judiciary Committee last year ushered the immigration bill through the Senate, has been left out of the process of drafting the bill.
Mr. Specter said yesterday that he and Mr. Kennedy have discussed the need to get a bill done this year but not any details. Mr. Specter has twice complained to Mr. Kennedy, most recently at a meeting last week, that the Republican senator’s staff had been left out of negotiations.

Yup, the new majority is bi-partisan and open and honest; not!

Ms. Capps said she expects Mr. Kennedy to introduce his bill “in the next few weeks.”
Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, is “committed to getting something done this year,” his spokesman said.

We are in trouble people, we have got to contact our elected cockroaches and tell them to seal the border and enforce our current laws before we can consider ANY legislation on immigration. Ask them to vote no on ANY bill granting a path to citizenship for those here illegally.

Remember, it was the House that stopped them last time, we cannot count on that this time.

    Illegal aliens and sex crimes

    22 02 2007

    Cross posted from Right Truth

We seldom hear the statistics about how many crimes are committed by illegal aliens here in the United States. The Coalition Against Illegal Immigration has done a fine job of reporting on this danger to our nation. The main stream media slants their stories in favor of the illegals rather than just reporting the facts. The Washington Post recently reported that ‘hundreds of illegal aliens were being exploited in a prostitution ring in Maryland’. Anyone with a heart would feel sympathy for these poor folks. What the WaPo didn’t tell it’s readers is that the prostitution ring was being run by illegal aliens.

Andy Selepak has the story in his article, Feds Bust Illegal Immigrant Sex Ring

The Washington Post ran a February 1, 2007 story about a prostitution ring in Maryland, which left readers with the impression that American citizens were transporting illegal alien women across the U.S. and exploiting them for sexual purposes. In fact, the prostitution ring was itself run by illegal immigrants.
The omission was typical of the tendency by the Post and other media outlets to portray illegal aliens as victims, rather than perpetrators, of crime. This is how media bias works in real life.
What makes this example of media bias even worse is that reporter Steve Vogel must have decided that including the fact that three of those who have pled guilty of running the prostitution ring were here illegally was either unimportant or took away from the message of his article. Or perhaps he simply did not take the time to gather the information before writing his story. I called Vogel to ask if those who were charged with running the prostitution ring were in the country illegally, but my call was not returned.
However, after talking to Marcy Murphy, the Public Affairs Specialist for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Maryland, I was able to quickly find out that three of those who have pled guilty in the case had, indeed, entered the U.S. illegally.
Vogel’s brief story in the Washington Post was part of a Maryland Crime Briefing about a prostitution ring run by 65-year-old Olinda Aparicio, with help from her daughters Elsy Aparicio and Dorinalda Aparicio, her son Eliazor Aparicio, her sister Rosibel Aparicio Jandres, and her brother-in-law Manuel Jandres. The family, all of whom have pled guilty to involvement in the prostitution ring, transported hundreds of women from New York and New Jersey to work as prostitutes in Maryland. As Vogel put it, “The women, mostly illegal immigrants, operated from apartments and houses” in Maryland. (read it all)

Reporters and journalists are supposed to report the facts, just the facts, and ALL the facts. Omitting a piece of important information from the article because it doesn’t fit someone’s political agenda seems to be the norm today.

Illegal immigrant arrests down….Prosecuting Border Patrol Agents seems to be working…..

    21 02 2007

Cross posted from StikNstein has no mercy

The NY Times reports significant decreases in CAUGHT illegal immigrants……
Homeland Security Officials cited the drop in apprehensions as clear evidence the borders are becoming more secure.

The only barometer to gauge whether migrants are being discouraged to attempt entering the United States is how many migrants are caught.” officials from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security say. The number of apprehensions has sharply fallen in the last few months.

When asked about possible reasons for the dramatic declines in apprehensions, A proud HLS spokesperson explained:

….New measures range from simply putting more officers out on patrol to erecting stadium lights, secondary fences and barriers of thick, steel poles to stop smugglers from racing across the desert. The Border Patrol has deployed hundreds of new guards to watch rivers, man surveillance cameras and guard fences.

    and then could have added:
“Dissuading the millions of illegal immigrants and smugglers from crossing our borders by actually sealing the border and enforcing the law has only met with limited success. This process also costs a lot of money and has not produced the declining illegal immigrant apprehensions we need as proof the borders will be secure by November 2008.

“Our new program…….Operation “BAAP’UMS”…(BORDER AGENT ARREST and PROSECUTION, USING MEXICAN SMUGGLERS) appears to be working far better. Based on the dramatic declines in confrontations we are currently seeing; we are getting clear indications that our efforts to arrest, prosecute and incarcerate Law Enforcement officials not only produces the data we need, but saves the taxpayer money.
“Who knew we would only have to prosecute and jail 4 or 5 Law Enforcement officers to get these results.”

A Border Patrol spokesman probably agreed:
” This new BAAP’UM equipment….uh….works great. Uh…….sure…..um….absolutely…..We’re “SEEING” way fewer illegals and drug smugglers in the last few months. You bet…….we arrest the ones we “SEE”, but we just don’t “SEE” them like we used to. When you don’t “SEE” them you sure as hell don’t arrest them……if you know….uh…… what’s good for you.

    Hmmmmmmm?

    Let’s go get some Chow………..

    ………………………………………………………………………………………….

Border Patrol agents say they are picking up about 100 people a day, rather than the 500 a day they handled a year ago. and add apprehensions over a 4 month period are down 27%.

    Federal Prosecutors in Texas agreed:
“It’s uncanny….. Arrests and prosecutions of law Enforcement agents have significantly increased over the same period. There seems to be some correlation…..We’re not sure why, but it seems the more agents we arrest and put in jail, the fewer smugglers the remaining “free” Agents see. This of course means fewer must be crossing our border……What else could account for the decrease?”

“We are comfortable that this actually reflects a change in momentum,” Michael Chertoff, secretary for homeland security, said in an interview last week during his first official visit to Mexico City. “I’m always quick to say it doesn’t mean we can declare victory. To some degree, I expect the criminal organizations, or smugglers, are pulling back a little, watching to see if we lose interest.”

    He might have added:
“Remember, we vowed not to consider any “Guest Worker Amnesty” program until HLS certifies the borders are secure, and our commitment to get the American people to believe our borders are secure has not wavered. We are clearly moving in the right direction.”
    As a side note:
“We would like to commend the hard work of Federal Prosecutors like Johnny Sutton as well as smugglers we grant immunity to so they can help us put our Border Patrol Agents in jail where they belong. Also, we should not forget the dedicated HLS officials willing to lie to Congress and a special thanks to El Presidente Oberon of Mexico for his pressure and assistance.
All these folks have played a crucial role in the decreasing arrests at our border.”

We believe Americans can be confident that apprehensions will continue to decrease….and before you know it…………the Border will be secure……….yep.

The Right Mix, the Right Recipe to Some – Border Enforcement

    21 02 2007

    Cross posted from    Demediacratic Nation

CAII NOTE ABOUT THIS ARTICLE IN THE TIMES:

Just so’s you know……As DM pointed out. The words “Illegal Immigrant” are used just once in this 1,300 word article….in the first paragraph. The rest of the article kindly reflects the Times bias by changing their designation to “MIGRANTS” the other 13 times it refers to them…………………

“It’s harder and harder, and that’s the reason why people are dying in the desert, it makes no sense.” – Miguel Pérez, a 24-year-old migrant from Guerrero

    A New Class of Victim:

The quote above is from one of the misnomered “illegal” migrants not, as the Times would prefer to have you believe. I wonder if people would be “dying in the desert,” if they were not in the desert? Miguel fits into the category of those described by the toiletpaper” that:

“are indignant that the United States would treat them like enemies or criminals.”

Where is the World is Eduardo?

    Did you know that:

“For 10 years, Eduardo Valenzuela has been crossing the border illegally near Yuma, Ariz., trekking over desert scrub and hopping a freight train to get back to his job with a construction company in Phoenix. The clandestine trip has become an annual ritual for him, as he goes home each winter to see his children.”

According to the paper of “mis-record” he and four travel companions (italics mine), had a little trouble this time around as:

“Border Patrol agents had caught them twice over three days, hounding them with helicopters and four-wheel-drive trucks.”

Can you imagine being “hounded” by the long arm of the law for breaking laws? It is galling to the Times and “migrant” illegals, that a sovereign nation would actually try to reverse the “migrant” “Illegal migrant” trend.

This all according to NY Times reporter/journalist/editorialist, James C. McKinley, Jr.. Reading this article, one gets the impression that “enforcement” is looked down upon. I also find it interesting that “clandestine” activities are acceptable for border crossing law breakers; but not acceptable for a government attempting to protect itself and its citizens in a much wider puzzle; a puzzle of which the border is just a piece.

Tougher tactics may be leading to the recent success of the border agents, as Sector Chief Randy Hill said:

“Word is getting around out there that if you cross in this area and get apprehended you are probably going to go to jail, and that is a deterrent.”

This border patrol “success,” is based in part on the “zero tolerance” that began in December of ’05, which allows for the prosecution of those caught by the border guards; quite a novel idea.

“Though it seems cruel to many migrants, the zero-tolerance policy appears to be working, Border Patrol commanders say. Along the river the Del Rio sector patrols, arrests are a third of what they were a year ago, only about 35 a day. In the meantime, drug seizures have doubled, as more agents have been freed up to patrol.”

This of course leads to reactions and subjective writing from “balanced,” journalists like this (italics mine):

“On a recent morning, 78 immigrants shuffled into the federal courtroom of Judge Victor Roberto Garcia. The migrants were shackled around the feet and hands as if they were dangerous criminals.”

A balanced reader might think perhaps some may be “dangerous.” As Mr. McKinley appears to know for sure, perhaps he could work with the courts in these cases and identify which, if any are “dangerous.” Whether his words are appropriate to reporting, I don’t know as I am not a member of the “elite media in the knows.” The choice of words and mixed angle used in the article are at the very least distressing, as one needs to spend as much time removing the attempted “opinion implants,” as one does to read the article.

    An Interesting Quandary:

North of the border, most children are familiar with the saying, “ignorance is not above the law.” South of it however, some may not:

“(Yet) across the river in Ciudad Acuña, where migrants arrive bewildered and penniless every afternoon after serving their prison sentences, several said they had no idea they ran the risk of jail. The smugglers they hired never told them.”

Good reason to regulate and unionize the coyote industry, no? Perhaps the Mexican government can include this little tidbit in their pamphlets printed to assist those entering a country illegally.

A friend of mine, Benning (author extraordinaire of “Bennings War“), recently commented on one of my posts that:

“I never click on a link to head to the NYT. I refuse! They probably count all the hits, multiply by the number of Americans, double, because they like to, and then sit back and sip their bad wine. Why give them the satisfaction?”

I can agree with him on this as I have begrudgingly read articles at the Times and other places after a much deserved respite from these sources. My recent spate of posts from the Times were in reaction to its further slide into subjectivity. I’ll need a break shortly, but for now they can have my hits as I read with mouth agape.
